Need some help on figuring out my rear suspension...I'm currently running a ladder bar rear suspension on my 54 F100, but since my car will be mostly used for street use, I'm looking to change it out to a 3 or 4 link system. Is there anyway I can use my existing brackets from the ladder bars to run a different suspension configuration? I've been told that if I cut off the brackets and put new ones on I will also have to have the housing straightened, with all these modifications it will cost as much as just buying a new housing. Any ideas? Here's a pic of the housing brackets on my truck... [/IMG]
Looks to me those could be used for a parallel 4 link set up using a pan hard or watts link at the back
It's street driven only so the ladder bars don't perform well. How would I go about figuring out if I could convert it? Are there specific specs/calculations I would need to use?
You sawall the current brackets, then grind down the welds. Weld on new brackets for a triangulated 4 link. When you weld on the rear end, there's this putty to put around the welded area which absorbs heat to keep the axle housing from warping. I forgot the name of the product but I saw it on Hot Rod TV awhile ago. You could also fab a truck arm suspension which would be good for street and strip.
