is there any kind of way to hang a functioning lake pipe other than with the usual chrome straps? i was hoping for something hidden that wouldn't wrap around the pipe. i thought of welding a bolt by the head on the hidden side of the pipe and bolting it (with the nut) from the the other side of the rocker, but i'm afraid of damaging (flaking) the chrome by welding or destroying the pipe at the connection because of the weight and vibration. does any of this make any sense? please help, i'm installing them on friday...i need a drink!

by the way i'm not worried about the pipe moving with the engie revving 'cause i plan on using some kind of flexible hose under the car to connect to the exhaust. any suggestions on INEXPENSIVE high heat hoses?

    thanx

Try to make a bracket with a oval hole and a shoulder bolt. This way it will still have room to expand, Also try to rubber mount it to rid vibration. Use a mig not a tig and just put a small s***ch on it, Then you can rattle some chrome on the weld. Just keep in mind the vibrations and movement and you will do fine.

I cut the loop hanger in half. I left about a 1/4 of the bracket on the bottom. It acts as a little craddle. Grind hanger and pipe, then weld. Bolt to car.

  4. I know of a couple guys that just welded a couple small tabs onto the back side of the pipe. Then it will just bolt to a bracket under the rocker. You just have to mask off the surrounding area and spray the welded area with some silver paint. Works pretty good.

If you NEED some sort of flexable line, you can use flexpipe($12 for 6' or so), avalible at most auto parts stores. However, it tends to leak a bit and will need to be replaced every few years cause it rusts out fast. Personally, i'd use solid pipe and rubber mount the hangers outlined above.
