Now that Geardrive isn’t making lake style headers or kits. Is there anyone making good quality kits? Not interested in Speedway kit. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I used the speedway header kit to build the custom lakes headers on my 36 pick up...you can do this if you have decent welding and fabbing skills or a friend who TIGs
I threw these together from a Speedway kit with a mig welder. The turnouts are from Summit and are welded to slip in baffles. Like @millersgarage said, it's just tubes and flanges. I had about $200 total invested in them.
I know I can get the kit from Speedway, I'm just getting tired of 50% of the stuff I get from them either doesn't fit or is so poorly made. I was hoping to support a smaller company. Probably just invest in a slip roller and make them myself.
If you want to support a small company, any small hot rod/fabrication shop can build you a set of custom lake headers. Even with torque tubes for the cones if that's what you want. I don't know who's in your area, but I'll throw out Strunk Fabrication in Ohio, Cornfield Customs in Ohio, Kohler Kustom in Pennsylvania, Bass Kustom in Texas, Circle City Hot Rods in Cali, Barillaro Speed Emporium in Tennessee, Traditional Metalcraft in Delaware, Salt City Speed Shop in Utah, Ida Automotive in New Jersey, River City Speed and Custom in Idaho, etc., etc.
Summit has a variety of Lake Headers & kits. I ran a set of Sandersons on my old Sedan Delivery for 12 years, and they held up nicely
Hells Gate Hot Rods sells lake header kits. https://www.hellsgatehotrods.com/ Also Patriot sells header kits. I'm using header flanges from Hells Gate and a small block Chevy lake header kit from Patriot to make a set for my 303 Olds.
