I got a little done this weekend.

1st...I sandblasted the front end parts...

2nd...Speedway sent me some Goodies...so I went to town!

    ...but this ain't gonna work...

...so I added some heat! :D

...oh and a good friend stopped by and left this "Tip Jar"...HaHa

The original shackles I got from Speedway are 5/8" to short so I made my own! Remember this is just a mock up!

...OH I got a new vice...It is BadAss!

    More to follow!

    Hi...Me again!

There is no way in Hell that the original Steering Box will fit! End of Story!

So...Cowl mount steering here we come! :D

Here's a little mock up of that!

I had a damaged Wishbone laying around the shop so I decided to make a cowl mount bracket out of it!

    Straight...and 90 degrees

Here is a mockup of the box in place...well close anyway!

    ...another

    More to come!

    ...oh and then...

I tried to drill my axle! Ha! I Burnt up 2 uni bits and a belt on my drill press!

So off to the machine shop I go! Got to have 1" holes!

Got some more parts from Speedway! I decided that my front end was not low enough so I am gonna (wait for it) Suicide the front end! Hum! Bet ya didn't see that coming! :D

I also wanted to extend the wheel base a bit so I figure what is a inch or 3 gonna hurt! :D

    Hi...me again! :D

I forgot to add pics of the drilled wishbone.

This one shows the "Speed holes" (got the term from a Friend so I'm sticking with it "Speed holes") in the front wishbone, also the front "Suicide" shackle mounted to the bone!

You may also take note that I cleaned and smoothed the top horn on the wishbone...just thought I would add that cause little details are often not mentioned.

..oh and the Bung Hole tacked in place! :D

    ...and the almost finished wishbone!

BTW the Speed holes in the wishbone will be oversized at the Machine shop as well!

that car is coming along nice man. its cool you saved it. its also cool to see you do most of the fab work too.

  15. Those stubby little spring hangers look their welded up nice. Where'd you get em?

Both very good renderings. I like the second one best though. Wide fives..

I like this one already because you've managed to make me laugh a couple times. That vice is just incredible. This is gearing up to be a good build so I'm watching this one for sure.

Oh, and the front end; the suicide set-up is kinda an eyesore, don't you think? What if you did something similar to a Doane Spencer-Rolling Bones set-up but on the A?

    Thanks Dude

"Speed holes" VS "Lightening Holes" I tend to lean to Speed holes...kinda has a racing vibe goin on! :D

    Thanks Man!

If I cant do most of the fab work I might as well stop doing this...and that aint gonna happen! :D Some of the machine work has to be farmed out but other than that it is all my FUBAR engineering! :D

Got um from "Speedway". Set up for the quarter elliptical spring. $60.00 for both.

I got um because they were long enough and Stout enough to bolt to my wishbone!

I here ya man! I love the Traditional look...but I cant get it low enough. I Wrestled with this for a month or so and finally decided for the lowness! :D

Someone once said: "You can stand around and look at it all you want...but it aint getting it done"!

...or the other one I like: "Shit or git off the pot"!

...I am off the pot! :D

Hahaha! I know what you mean.. I'm hoping mine will be low enough too! I'm hoping that at least all I will have to do is pie cut and raise the front crossmember up some and notch the frame where the spring will come through.

    Someone famous once said.. "Git-r-done."

  23. Yep... I'm diggin' the 2nd one with the wide fives. It looks less Old Skoo' Rodz and more like a traditional car.

The proportions are right too... it's hard to make a coupe turned roadster look right... but with that one, you've done what many guys have failed to do.

    Built it!

...and then I blew apart my steering box! Funny that it was Maggot infested and 50 year old grease! Par for the coarse...I guess! I just need to sandblast the case and then on for re-assembly! I think it will make a good steering box...we will see when I get it mocked up!

...and then today I got a little done!

I found out that it would cost $250.00 to drill the axle holes at a Machine shop...so I decided to go with Rivits! Ha...just kiddin...but they kinda have a cool look! Let me know what you think!

...then I dropped it! A lot!

The shackle mount through the wishbone dropped it 3" to 4" (haven't measured yet) You can see in the pics the difference between the original shackle and where it sits now!

The passenger side is temporary till I find another 40 wishbone!

Much better I am happy now! :D

    ...more front pics!

It is almost close enough to call the front done...course it is far from it! But time to move on to bigger and badder things! Ha...lets see how bad I can screw up the rear end. :D

  29. You might want to notch the frame so the spring doesn't hit. Looks good.

I like the looks of the rivets, but I don't think that is the look you are going for on this car.
