I received a email from Jim Carter Trucks and it had this interesting attachment about the 58 Cameo that was sold at the Lambrecht Auction. Has some interesting information about the truck. http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/blog/index.php/2013/10/1958-chevrolet-cameo/
Very interesting details on the factory details. A lot of Cameo owners are going to have to rethink that restoration project.
if I had a spare 140K, I sure as **** would not come home with that! An Auburn, maybe a Cord, Caddy or Packard...convertible of course.
Which ones? This account seems to be from seeing the truck in person. Could there have been variations according to region or dealership?
did you all happen to see this related story ? http://journalstar.com/news/local/b...cle_f74f9b1d-5e6a-593f-a6b0-886ecf8595a3.html
i don't find anything interesting. rusty dirty ****ty dented cars selling to dumb***es with more money than brains. enough with the lamebret auction ****
I think it is a joke they use it as the standard, us it as a referral. Back when this stuff was new they were just trucks and cars, not intended to be collectors or.... They were not all the same or works of art, just cars and trucks slapped together to make a living.
All I can say is I've had great luck using Jim Carter Chevy truck parts as a vendor. Good service, tons of knowledge, and prices are reasonable. I think the article was just a old Chevy truck guy geeking on a non over-restored pick up.
Appears this 58 Cameo was basically the leftovers, not surprised to see the radio delete, painted bezels and a few other simple items we are used to seeing in the standard apache. Must have been one of the last ones out. Almost a 3100 with a cameo bed, weren't all the 235s gray????? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
For me, I enjoy seeing a factory original truck rather than, as Master of None stated: "A over-restored pick up" Plus the article provides good information for those restoring old Chevy trucks.
Well, it's not like it's a COE or an airplane body made into a camper. Just out of curiosity, I'd like to know why this truck isn't a good representation of a newly delivered Cameo.
It's a great story and it was a cool collection, but I looked at the auction results and I think every buyer overpaid.
I'd of liked to read the rest of the story about the guy who bought 14 and claimed a truck driver made off with his money... Unfortunately 90% of the article was blacked out like you needed a "subscription" to read it. Nice link dude.
Yeah... Funny how that works... Kinda like stepping in dog ****. You know what its going to look like, you dont want to see it, but you look at the bottom of your shoe anyway. And besides that, the only claim to fame that truck may have stems from the fact that nobody wanted it when it was new.
I hope not. Me and HRP are hoping to negotiate a do***entary deal about the internet threads that are about the threads and posts of other threads on the insignificance of a s**** yard auction long gone. IT'S GOING TO BE BIG; REAL BIG!
click it again. ya don't need a subscription to read it, dude if you need more info, contact the auctioneer
