The 315-70-15 TAs have lasted 12 years on my Model A , bought a new set of 315s at a swap meet for $50, they are a different brand but look almost the same? Chris

you may be correct, i've only dealt with the 15" versions. i bought my 1st set of 31/10.50/15s in 86-87 and used those and the 285s on several o/t cars. i loved the height of those, something 50-series tires just can't match.

A friend dropped these off yesterday just so I could see how the car looks with some big meat on the rear. Now I want some too.

I decided to go a different route...I bought a pair of 17x9.5 Salt Flats and put a pair of 265/70/17's on them.......31" tall and a 11.5" sidewall width....Brush Finished the rim and painted the center Brushed Nickel...I think they turned out pretty good...I happy with the total look.

Doubt Michelin would sell him the molds and they damn sure wouldn't sell him the stuff necessary to build the carcass of that tire. Big difference in building a generic tire and curing it in a mold that says BFG or Firestone or whatever, versus the equipment and technology necessary to make a radial tire that wide and have the tread sit flat on the road rather than looking like an overinflated balloon.

FWIW, I worked for Michelin in R&D for 10 yrs, and know for a fact that they aren't about to sell or license anything to anyone that involves the disclosure of any of their current tire manufacturing knowledge.

The Hoosier 31x12.50-15 are dog gone close these days, folks say they ride super and handle very good rain or shine.
