I've encountered a problem with my 390 FE after swapping manifolds to a performer rpm unit. The distributor hole is larger than the stock unit, large enough that stock dizzy seal that contacts the manifold just barely touches and I'm getting a leak now because of it. Do they make oversized dizzy seals or is there possibly a different seal out there that would be the same inside diameter, but slightly larger outside?
The seal on my used dizzy was loose. It looked just fine. I replaced it with a new one and all was well. Mine was an Edelbrock intake.
I've replaced it and we're still loose. It looks snug, but when the motor gets hot and we're running on a road trip, I get oil leaking out behind the dizzy on the manifold. Would be handy if some distributor XYZ out there had the same ID but was a 1/16th or 1/8th larger on the OD.
Its more like an o-ring than a gasket though. I could probably make one, was hoping there was something oversized out there to deal with this issue. I heard they cut the dizzy hole a bit larger on some intakes to accomodate different engine combos, certainly I'm not the first to run into this issue.
