I am almost speechless. We are fortunate car guys rescued this amazing collection. To often people pass and their prizes go to the dump. Tell us how he came to possess all these items.

The ol' boy had a scrap yard in PA that I believe he started clear back in the 40's and apparently what he did was strip everything he could off of the cars and put that stuff in some of the warehouses and storage units, and then he just crushed (makes tears come to my eyes to say that) the bodies of the cars and I imagine he lived off of the money he got from just the steel. He said his whole operation was only on 1 acre!

THEN, sometime in the mid 70's he owned a big plating shop in Cleveland and he rechromed a TON of the parts he pulled off the cars. He said the EPA put him out of the chroming business in the mid 80's and I was under the impression that he wound up with a pretty hefty fine out of that deal. All at the same time he was going around the Northeast buying out old dealerships parts inventories when they closed up, and all that stuff went into the warehouses too. He told me he'd go into them old dealerships and take everything they had, "for a song". It blows my mind, but he collected for better than 60 years, and is a classic example of a "hoarder". He knew where damn near everything was at in all them piles of parts, and could name darn near everything from clear across the room. Sharp as a tack this ol' boy is......

There really aren't words to adequately discribe this collection. I can only imagine what it was like to first lay eyes on it.

OH MY GOD... Lucky fucking duck, I am gonna throw a rock at something! So are any of these parts gonna see the hamb, possibly throught the classifieds or on cars? Or are you the next "hoarder" in the line?

  11. I think you should get it set up for a swapmeet each month or every other month and make your warehouse as a destination place in Montana for guys like us. Would be cool to take a trip there to see it all. Or you get a big old 5th wheel unit and hit all the major swapmeets in the US and sell the stuff that way. I think Ebay sucks and is so time consuming. Shipping is a pain in arse.

I wholeheartedly agree with you curbspeed! I would LOVE to take off this summer with that 32 foot trailer and just tour the US going to a different swap meet every week along the way! But I can't talk my partner into it......Ebay sucks, but at this point, it's a necessary evil, to keep grease on the wheels, if ya catch my drift

YEAH! Thats a cool idea, exept you could do it across the states, A local dealer in each state (paid employee) and they have a swap meet and introduce a handful of the parts into the trades each time they meet. Something like that. I don't know, I could draw it out for you.

  14. They are open most weekends, I've spent a few Saturday mornings walking/spending my way through the aisles.

and btw, that Verbal Kint guy, I can't think of his first name, but yes, he's been a GREAT customer at the shop! He's the guy who got me turned on to the HAMB in the first place! And I've never met his wife, but I bet she hates my guts! I haven't seen him in awhile......and I know he's itchin' to come see all the stuff Evan just got back with!

We should be, unless for some strange reason I sleep in or go find some bacon & eggs somewhere before I go down. Evan's usually there pretty early on Saturdays though, and we've got a ton of work to do.

He's said in a post above that he's selling the parts on eBay. I read it, not sure why you didn't.
