You must have had to come up with some serious cash to purchase all that stuff.

This is pretty impressive stash that has been uncovered. I am glad that you guys are offering it up for sale.

    woah shhiii, wow man.
what a feeling that has to be

  4. Thanks for sharing the story...mind boggling!

While it was probably second to none as far as collections go, think of how many folks you are supplying parts to...think of how many projects are getting completed because of this!

I don't even want to think about what the agreed price was, and I think your estimate of its total worth is probably conservative based on the pictures and descriptions. Needless to say, there's a helluva lot of work involved to get it from point "A" to "B", catalog, sell, and ship...lots of work ahead.

Good on you guys for negotiating a fair deal, and selling it in a competitive way. I agree with you about the ebay/paypal fees, though it's difficult to beat the exposure if you're trying to move a lot of parts for cashflow initially...

    I'll be watching your auctions!

From a guy thats been in the Automotive Parts business my whole life.....that's a nice inventory score.

  6. Awesome, Chris...just awesome. Hope it's your "pot of gold". BUT you used "Rat rod" in one of your listings. As penance, you should give each HAMB member choice of one item for free.

    I'm just sayin... LOL

Seriously, I'm looking for (5) matching 1bbl automotive carbs. Couldn't care less what brand or cfm. Sound like anything you remember running across in there?

    Part 4

Well this is what 2/3 of it looks like! Evan did the 3rd trip solo and this time we REALLY had our poop in a group! He scored a whole bunch of wood crates that the sides come off of, which made things 10 times better when it came time to load the semi! He was gone about a week and a half this time though, but he made a good dent in what's left! We're in the process of getting even more shelves and we're gonna start this giant inventorying process. It should suck, but when it's done, it will be the coolest inventory list there ever was!

Thanks for all the comments and replies and emails guys & gals! I didn't know I'd get this big of a response, but this is awesome!! Keep on sending me emails and letting me know what you're looking for. I try to get back to most everyone, in one fashion or another, so be patient and we'll get connected!

I wish you all could come see these parts, I've been staring at them every day since December and I'm still in awe of it all! We're only a 2 man show and this is an INTENSE amount of work we've undertaken, but it will all be worth it once it gets set up and rockin' & rollin'!

I was going to get more pictures with better details of what's on the shelves last night, but my band has a big show tonight and we needed to work out a couple songs last night, so I drank beer and played some guitar instead!

We hired a 53' semi when Evan went back in April, PLUS our 32' car hauler. The enormous stack of pallets you see going down the middle of the warehouse is the pallets that came off the semi. There's 56 pallets there I think and it's stacked 8' wide, 60' long and 8' high........I don't know if they make bigger trucks!

    I just wanna go fishin!

It will be very interesting to see how much of that is actually worthwhile to deal with. I've seen a lot of situations like this were someone goes in and buys loads like this, only to spend all their time inventory'ing and listing it to not even double their money. Regardless, good luck.

Somehow, I don't think that will be the case in this situation. It seems the Chris has a good head on his shoulders and has a reasonable estimate for what it's worth. I can't believe he and his partner would jump into this deal with all the work involved and capital investment for any more than a third of the estimated value. What's that 'vette worth (if it was part of the deal)...of course, no details have been shared (matching numbers?)...but have you seen the prices on C1's? Or the other vette body...I suspect there may be other goodies probably not yet divulged until he gets them safely home and stored.

We're loving this thread...an absolute astonishing find.

  16. Chris....have you upped your insurance coverage on your new inventory? just a reminder. In all the "headiness" and euphoria, guys sometimes forget about important stuff like that...and also an alarm system or on-site night watchman or two.

I'm not too worried about gettin our money back out of it, we honestly got it for a helluva steal, and we've averaged about $10K a month since we got back in December and you can't even tell we've sold anything, and all that was still from the first 2 loads, we still have a whole semi load plus our 32' trailer to UNPACK, and the stuff that's in the crates is the "good stuff"..........the first 2 trips were emptying out the 1st barn, mostly used and not so cool NOS stuff, the stuff that was in the 2nd barn is the NICE stuff.....we haven't even started unpackin it yet!

I went down and took some pics this morning.......enjoy!

Well, we didn't buy it all and go to all the work just so we can look at this stuff for the next 50 years like Paul did! Don't get me wrong, I am lovin' all the attention from you guys, but my main ambition is to SELL EVERY PIECE OF IT, everything except the NOS grill for my '36....I'm gonna keep that.....

Well, we figure this will keep us more than busy for a few years, and who knows what other doors it will open for us along the way right?! I'm still a young buck, lotsa good years left in me I hope.

But seriously, who wants to go fishin?

Wow! Just found this thread. That was quite an undertaking to say the least. I know there are still a few of those kinds of finds left out there but I am glad you guys are getting those parts out there where they can be used instead of just laying around. Keep up the good work.
