he is the guy that put the fins on the Rod and Custom dream truck And he did the mods on the Golden Sahara 2 version
that is one of the things I read to the tour groups that come here. They get a kick out of it. It is only on the liquid gl*** version. That part is different on the liquid first cl*** cans
Ha, ha, ha… Wise man. I fell in, it’s a huge time waster. I joined because I lost track of a good friend for a while and I was told he was a big Facebook fan. I found that he was ok by noticing his posts there. And he did have some health problems and went dark for a while. In the meantime I found that the Marketplace is a good source for finding old stuff and selling junk, you just have to stay outa the social stuff, it’s just BS.
Noticed most of the pics posted are of the back or side of the car. Then I saw the article showing the front and can see why there are few frontal shots
More than just the time wasting part. I do not like their business model. They make money by selling your personal info. to the highest bidder. A lot of times it is Chinese or Russians who use that info to create false profiles that are meant to create drama and "fight" with the members. Keeping people preoccupied with the fights so they can undermine our society and wreak havoc ....
@Bob K Bob Klessig worked for Leverier custom polish back in the sixties. We talked numerous times on the subject and he knew my affinity for collecting old wax cans. As far as the Dorner Liquid gl*** and first cl*** polish, he did not produce it. It was supplied by Leverniers and was their exact same formula , the only difference was it had dye in it to change the color. Bob also told me about the *****in 62 Impala 327 4 speed station wagon that he had as a company car. Part of Leverniers promotion was that they owned a bubble top car called the X-cel, They took it to car shows to demonstrate the wax on. It was a 58 Tbirb originally built by Darryl Starbird and shown as the Electra. **** Scully restyled it and changed the name to X-cel. It was also used in their print ads. Last I heard the car in very poor shape is sitting behind a body shop on the east coast. I tried to buy it 20 some years ago and got the "I am going to restore it someday"story
Here is a link to my wax can thread https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...intage-wax-cans-and-my-good-pal-bob-k.964758/
As mentioned you can see stuff on Facebook without being a member. In any case I checked the link and there's not a lot of information there, but one person said they saw the car at the company owner's house in 2019, and understood that some family members took possession of it after he died.
thanks, more of a curiosity thing for me. I don't need another car. as far as FB I do not want even a toe in that pool....
Yep. Only reason I joined, but then after a couple of yrs, decided to try their dating site. lol! Another story for another day, but have friend who only wants to communicate with FB. Find that very weird…
Curiosity got the best of me and I clicked on that fudgebook link and mapped the house. Sort of funny in a small town cafe gossip sort of way, "doc told me how he made it in the ba*****t" "I saw THEM taking 55 gal drums out of the house" "there was a secret bunker under the driveway"?!? Anyhoo doc was an artist working in the medium of bs, but was probably a lot of fun to be around. And someone bought the house and did a nice job fixing it up. If the family kept the car it sounds like it might be in Nebraska, Doc and Bonnie both buried there according to the obit up above.
It's been years since I was at the Henry Ford Museum but I could swear that's where I saw the car. I read somewhere the car was still in the posession of the gentleman who purchased the car from the builder and in the early 80's it was in his ba*****t in Michigan. HRP
"Framed and hung up above part of my wax can collection" Mark is the only person I know of that has a wax collection!
