The three window has been restored and will be at GNRS.

  3. plan9 - how did you get on tracing the history.
I have a T roadster body that was reportedly raced by Shinoda under the Trompers name - the car itself was owned by Don Zabel and Bruce Robinson. If I can confirm this then I will restore it back to that configuration. This body came from Victorville and the info is what Squeak Bell (who found the body) tells me.

I had to add to this post. Shinoda was a driver for this version of this 29 roadster on 32 rails built by ben yumori. Mr.Yumori an asian american man that i meet in the mojave desert many years ago. He was one of the wisest ol timers that iv ever meet. I found this picture after a friend and i discoverd a old business sign that read Yumori brother Engine shop culver city ca. Thats when it all began i searched day and night tell i found this pic, so i made a poster of it to give to him and a copy for me to sign he started crying and asked were i found this picture... He stated that this car was on his property at one time.I later discoverd in his garage of countless ford parts a overhead conversion for 37-38 flat head 21 stud engine i think? I found heads , valve covers intake runners that would rise up to a alluminum thickstun the rockers that were used were buick straight 8 cut in half. He told me that he made this over head conversion before ardun s version came out. He had the cooooolest stories every about how he and his wife would go out for dinner and come out and his over head conversion would be missing from his car! he says that he built about seven of them for v8 i found some molds for over head 4 bangers in his garage with asian names carved into the wood.He told me 9 years old he rebuilt his first ford engine. I miss ben he was a cool dude and a honest gentleman. He claims to have invinted the hydro fork lift but some one stole the project from him and patent it first.well enough said.... R.I.P to Ben Yumori  the dishes i run on the front of my roadster are yumori specials he pressed them into a tree trunk mold in 40s.

More historical notes about Larry Shinoda. Larry's partner in the duece roadtser pictured earlier in "Emporer Chucky Boy's" posting was another Detroiter named Jack Powers; that car was a strong runner at the first NHRA Nationals at Great Bend, KS, in 1955. Watched it race there.

Shinoda - at one time - in the early 50's was a bad-ass kart racer and nationally ranked.

One very neat guy, on many levels. Was glad to have known him.

K13 "Shinoda passed away on November 13, 1977."

Larry actually passed away in '97.
    Any updates on the RPU?
