Do you any of you have a good bio link for Larry Watson? I have been googling him for an hour now and can not find anything with any type of bio longer than four lines. I am using "grapevine" for an art history project and need some biogrphy as well. Thanks guys.
Yeah I guess as he was getting into doing movie cars there was a transition into acting. I think he told me his last gig was the pilot of Macgyver HA.
Try PMing Rikster. If anybody knows of one he will. Rod & Custom did a two part bio on him a number of years ago I will see if I can find the articles.
Really I am mostly looking for when he was born, where his shop was located etc. I know he worked for Barris for a while and have manty examples of his style.
Well I found one of the articles and it doesn't give his date of birth but it does say that at 19 he ordered a yet to be released '58 squarebird so that would put his dob in '38 or '39. He started painting in his parents driveway in Bellflower. He then opened a shop in North Long Beach. After that he went to work at Barris' shop and then opened another of his own shops in Bellflower. Doesn't really give any hard dates. Hope this helps
Don't know if you have been here yet or not but this is THE site for custom car pictures hosted by Rikster. http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_..._cars/watson_custom_cars/larry-watsons-perso/
Yes I have been. He has a ton of great pictures. That site is how i came across Grapevine to begin with.
I too googled him too very little luck. Wanted to find info on his shop if he still had one. Saw a picture of him in a mag just recently he had a way cool tee with a flying eye ball and some advertisment for his shop. Just wanted to buy one like it. Anyone know how to get some of his stuff??
the best I have ever done is simply going to borders car section, and just search for his name in the back of every car culture book. that way you can assemble a FEW sentences. ha.
61 Lic, The Rod & Custom mag for June 1996 has 8+ pages on Watson. Has several of his car in it also. Have no way to post this story. Hope this helps.
Rickster pm'd me. He has some really great info. KooDaddy, no luck. He has no shop anymore. He is supposed to be retired, however the Feb. 08 issue of Car Culture Deluxe has an article on a car he recently added some paint to titled "rare bird". If I find out where you can get the shirts I will let you know because I want one too. I'm really glad I chose my project on him otherwise I wouldn't know how great an artist he is. His Panel jobs were absolutely sick.
