I was afraid that would happen. Was really looking forward to the swap meet as usual. But better safe than sorry. Hopefully the Model A swap meet at Little League HQ in Devore in September will still happen.
Guess the Government will have to break out the old fashioned " Stearman " crop dusters and start some serious attack on this dammed virus!
Did anyone really think the LARS show or any other show was going to take place? I like cars as much as anyone but this COVID-19 is no joke. Unfortunately a lot of people never got the chance to get it twice.
Hopefully by the fall but you're right this shit isn't a joke so the fall is just a cross your fingers and hope projection. IMO.
Shit happens......think of all the lost $$$$$$$$ in beer sales for LA County. They will be declaring bankruptcy very soon.
Seeing as this is middle of June, yeah, I was hoping it would happen. I sure as hell hope this lock down isn't going on into June!
Was planning on making a SoCal weekend trip this summer and going back to LARS was my choice of weekends. So, I guess the next good swap in SoCal is the Long Beach Model T Club swap meet at the end of July?
I usually go to these. Might be small but they have a lot of stuff. I didn't get to to last years. Isn't it now at the LB College Memorial Stadium?
Bummer but lets get past this virus thing and hope we can all make it next year with a big Hamb meet up. The rest of the school year as far as being physically in a school building was canceled today simply because the state superintendent doesn't want to see it start up and then have an outbreak with a bunch of sick people and all the stuff that goes with it. Dave Smith the owner of Factory five (kit cars) said that his 82 year old died of it in the past day or two . I don't want to read on here that one of our members died of it. It's hard enough to deal with the deaths from cancer, heart disease and just pure old age. I'd hate like hell to find out that one of our members died because he picked up the virus at a car show or swap meet. We can do a bit more work out in the garage with the extra time to have the cars a bit nicer when we do get to go play show and tell and the swap meet boxes and bins will wait until next year or the late fall events.
Agreed, for me it's wait until there is a cure or a prevention. I've a good years work of stuff to clean/straighten up and toss as well.
It looks to me like things won't even start to get better until at least two months after we finally get a total countrywide lockdown. And that hasn't happened yet. Gonna be a long lonely year, folks.
