Your son is a smart man. They just bounce a little and sound like a 727 plane landing when the hop off the bumps.
We've been selling at Turlock for over 40 years and LARS about 20 years. All swapmeets aren't "what they used to be" but I still think LARS is the best showing of 32-34 Ford parts out there. And yes, if you walk around with your hands in your pockets and just read price tags you will probably come away thinking parts are overpriced. If you get out there and hunt, there are plenty of deals to to be had. Most of my current 32 5W project is built from swapmeet parts, a good portion from LARS. We will be in spaces V13-V15. Stop by and say hello. Neal
I'll be there but not selling parts this year . Putting a new clutch in the 41 as we speak and I'm going to take it down there and see if I can get a couple bites on it as I have too many cars.
It's still the LA Roadster show. Bargains aren't common. Hot rods and people in one place. I see nothing wrong with that.
Hey mark, I put a clutch in it a year ago when I put the motor in and it always had clutch chatter and I was going on a trip to Vegas and started chipping gears In the transmission and had to swap the trans recently, but I did not have a new clutch at the moment.
I will be selling at LARS. My buddy and I are going to split a space but it's mainly an excuse to go... We are going to get the spot this afternoon so I can't tell you what spot we will be in but just look for a yellow 1975 Ford boogie van wearing all the authentic 1970s goodness that is an original survivor of the sleazy era and you will find us.
Got the clutch job finished. It's so smooth as it should be. For the year and a 1/2 that I've owned the car. It's always had clutch chatter and always been a pain in the ***. Now. It makes me not want to sell it because it works great.
That's the way it goes. Planning on selling a car that's been sitting in storage for too ling, then you take it for a good drive, and start to change your mind.
While I won't be going this year LARS is still one of the best times in our hobby! The Kid told me we're staying home and not looking at junk we don't need and spending money on **** we won't use, and dammit Dad your Five Winder is getting on the road this weekend. (He's waaaaaay smarter than me). We'll be driving to the LARS in it next year. If you are going only to see Old Friends and laugh this is still worth it. In fact that's what always brings me back. Yeah there's a lot of overpriced crazy out there. But honestly if you just get down and dig there's a ton of great stuff for reasonable or good deals. Free Beer and Laughs are what makes the World a better place, and there's an abundance of both out there. If you come away with some freakish treasure for cheap BONUS! So get out there kids! Happy Fathers' Day - Tim
Here are a few shabby Tecate fueled phone pics. Lot of overpriced stuff, .some nice, some not so nice. Got a few Harley parts, so I am happy. Worth the tortuous drive from San Diego county; but I had to deliver a block.
****, now I'm not going to be able to get to sleep tonight. This one of the few swaps (show also if I spend time looking) that I'll drive back to no matter where I may be in the future.
@abe lugo Got one, but thanks. It ran, didn't really drive, am deep into fixing that now. Steering and rear were wonky, lots of things to fix.
NOTE For the Photo takers: If you take a photo of something we'd be interested in post the asking price in a second photo, great fun guessing how badly things are overpriced.
