Hot Rods Lasalle trans in 53 Merc

Anyone ever installed a Lasalle box in this era Merc ?

Also how hard would using stock Merc shifter be ?

I've installed the LaSalle sideshift box in earlier cars, ('40-'48) and connected to the Ford column linkage, with some minor work on the shape of the 2/3 arm of the LaSalle, and connection to the Ford shift rods. Directions of arms are same, so the attachments are minor. (40 years ago...)
