So I have looked through the multiple LaSalle transmission threads and have not yet found the answer to my question. I started to do a conversion of a '37 Buick trans to open drive with a '53 Olds side shift donor. Along with these transmissions, I found what I believe to be a '36 LaSalle top loader transmission that is similar to the Buick. The biggest differences are that it doesn't have the bolt on throw out bearing snout and is open drive. I slid the '53 Olds bell housing on and the bolt pattern doesn't match up. What I did find, though, is a '53 - '56 Buick bell housing that matches up perfectly. Does anyone know how the input shaft of the LaSalle compares to what would be required for a '53 - '56 Buick 322 nail head? Has anyone ever used one of these LaSalles behind a nail head? It looks like a good solution to get a tough floor shift behind a Buick.
