Technical LaSalle transmision in 1940 Ford

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by jcb40sd, Jan 2, 2014.

  1. I am building a traditional 1940 Ford.
I am using a 325 Dodge hemi with a LaSalle trans with a torquetube drive Halibrand quick change.
Has anyone tried to use the original Ford column shift linkage with the Lasalle box?
I have a column shift box and floor shift box both converted to Ford enclosed drive shaft.
Just not sure which way to go.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Cheers JCB

Personally I'd use the floorshift box.

  4. I'd run the floor shift box as well . . . will be much easier and what many folks did back in the day (instead of a column shift).

a nice shifting column shifter can be a pleasure to drive and clears up a lot of floor space,
the floor shift is a one year only design so if certain parts fail you will be searching for even rarer (than the side shift box) donor parts, as new replacement parts are non existent.
    but you knew that
