I've just acquired an old louver press. It's a beautiful old machine with a 3" thick solid steel arm. I want to set this thing up so anyone can use it. The only way possible is to install lasers. I saw a video on you-tube with a guy using just what would work. It cast a red beam across the entire center line of the row. Does anyone know where to look for such an instrument? I've looked through McMaster Carr and Grainger with no luck. Anyone?
I use this method on my press. I use an $8 laser from harbor freight which I bolted to the inside top of the throat. Make sure the laser line is perfectly square with your cut edge on the bottom die and you'll be good to go. Also make sure that laser is bolted down good or your in trouble if you bump it while doing a job. I put a new set of watch batteries in for each job as ive had it die midway when doing a hood.
That's an old post of mine. The laser on the throat is all that's needed though. I had to do this because my press does curved edge ones
Thanks a lot fellows. I guess I've been over thinking this one. I knew there must be someone making a cheap one but I've been retired for four years so I'm not in the market place anymore. Thanks again. Harbor Freight in the morning.
