That's amazing, simply great, the sort of workmanship I spend hours on the internet trying to find. Raw steel and craftsmanship, flayed open for all to see. Far better than looking at finished shiny cars with all the work buried under layers of faceless glossy paint.

Not sure if it is just the way the photo shows it, but is that steering tie rod a little close to the chassis rails? Looks to be no more than an inch.

Whatever, it all looks great and is a perfect example of what we can all try to reach or aspire to.

... or just shoot it 200 more times. :D

That chassis is tits man. LOVE the engine up high where it belongs. It's gonna be a helluva lot of work to get all that under a hood...

Bass, I've looked at this post everyday since you posted it. I love this car. The proportions remind me of the Hemi-coupe Reggie built...which I loved. 6" chop, sitting on deuce rails, & a hemi high and proud. Perfection.
I think this made me decide to sell my T-coupe body and look for an A.
Thanks for the inspiration...can't wait to see it at the Round-up,
    John

Some really great work here. Thanks for taking pics of this stuff for all us to view. I've got a set of those shocks also. Where can ya get rebuild kits for them?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Way nice work, Bass! It's cool to see such creativity while still working within a set of "rules" that keep your work looking like it fell out of a particular time period.

Do you have any detail shots of where the split bones attach to the frame?

    Damn! you got skills!
Your workmanship and vision set a great example of how to build a hot rod.
I'm learning as I go and I make my mistakes, but ultimately, posts like this keep us newbies on target.
    Thanks for sharing.

Just another pat on the back Bass. I don't know you but your workmanship is outstanding and I know you spent countless hours on that frame. I'm building an A down here in Corpus and I thought I was doing well but the hemi and the frame you put together are awesome to say the least. I hope to run into you some day at a show cause I'd really like to see this A up close. Thanks for sharing with us. Good job and good luck!

Bass, NICE WORK! Reggie told me to look at this thread; now I know why. Do you mind if I use some of your ideas on my chassis ? Hope the A makes it to the RoundUp; I want to look at this! -Tom

round up is getting close, this is the second year i am killing myself to get a car ready for the round up.i told myself that i was not going to do this anymore, but here it is time again and i'm right back in the same boat as last year.at least this year i'm only finishing up one car instead of two,as of right now.

don't have any picts yet but i'll try to post some tonight.

bass- you should like it it is a black on black on black 32 5 window, with no stinkin' flat head.

3window larry-me and dad think your coupe is looking really cool, real nice work.keep it up your almost there.

I wouldn't call it a thrash just yet. But I do need to get my car done and registered if I want it down there...

  20. Im trying to get it done, but with a house move and 6 days a week of work, is hard. Im so close I can feel it tho.

I'm going to put gas in mine and maybe change the oil. I think I can handle that without sustaining any tail damage.

    Still need to:

1: mount my new fuel cell
2: finish my raised truck floor and driveshaft tunnel
    3: make front shock mounts
4: mount and hookup all my airride
    5: pull out the hydo
6: install the adapter and 700r4
    7: have my driveshaft reworked
8: Change out some worn rocker arms
9: bleed the brakes and fix any other little problems

I think I will make it, but you never know.

    You're a dork Larry. :D

Right now I am PRAYING that motor #3 at the machine shop is not junk.

It is going to be freakin' tight. I have been told it can't be done. I am keeping the faith though.

Hey sounds like my kind of hot rod! I like flatheads just fine as long as they are in someone else's car. :)

I'm still busting my ass on my car. The chassis is almost ready for the body...still needs a drive shaft and tranny mount. I've been building headers before the motor has to go to the machine shop....new forged pistons should be in this week with any luck.

I haven't even stopped to clean the shop lately...

I had to put my roller Halibrands and Americans on since I sent the 16" wheels out to make them pretty.

Here's a few shots of the in-progress headers for the hell of it...I've got a couple of days wrapped up in this side already, and this is the "easy side"!

I'm looking forward to seeing the five window Danny.

Hopefully we'll all make it with time to spare!

Hey I'm try'n like hell to get my truck done. It's tuff cause I don't want to compromise anything. last weekend I finished installing 51 ford coupe headlight rims to my truck's original buckets. getting the taillights wired up. I need to finish the inside too. My handles are at a Machine shop (Ray's engineering) in Northridge, Great guy! I'm using 37 GM handels with 39/40 ford eschueons(?). It should look perfect with the knobs set-up on my column. I'm mixing parts to get that 1951/53 mild custom look.
