I saw the car in person Saturday morning when I was dropping something off to MArkX, and must say, this thing is going to be badass. Good Luck.

I'm trying to complete my frame swap and drivetrain swap in time to go. But...I am also selling my current home, buying another one and moving sometime over the next couple of months, hopefully not the weekend of the Roundup.

Went last year and it was pretty good. Here in Corpus we don't have quat except the outdoor show in May. Again, thanks for helping out this ol newbee.

That's beautiful! What color is that? Looks like a dark red or maroon. It will really look good when you get some shiney wheels on it.

I am trying to get my 66 Chevy Pickup done. Thrashing is a good description! I have decided that sanding is like childbirth-you don't think it will ever end! But, done or not, it will be there!

Wow, D.W...that thing looks killer! I really like the Radirs.

Danny...That 5window looks super nice. Nice choice with the 383. To post the big pictures you have to host them elsewhere. I've got a photo album on picturetrail.com, and I host my pics there and link to them when I post.

  21. 32 3w project...Doin some finish up work on the top chop(mild one 5 1/4 front, 4 1/2 rear), having to lower the "aircraft seat" some more and have located another "whiz bang T5 to replace last years donor(oh yea, new floorboards). Pulled out a 296 Flathead donor motor from its hiding place(yes Bass, it is in somebody elses car, looks like your Hemi with "funny heads":D ) Have to do a quicko rebuild on the engine and have the blower set up ready to go on...then all the misc changes to make everything work with the different parts. My plans are to get it running before Noon of the round up THIS year...last year almost did me in!!!
    Nothing to it...hahahaha

I'm not exactly busting anything, but I have a lot of little things to take care of... but my 59 will be there.

My girlfriend, OTOH, will be busting a lot of tail. Her 51 is torn apart and in bare metal right now. It will be at the Roundup

I posted a few pics the other day of the header I had started building for the passenger side of my Model A Coupe...here's a link to that thread:

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92582

Since then I have pretty much hammered out the other side.

I just knew it was going to be a real pain in the ass to get the primaries around the dump truck (F-5 truck) steering box, but it actually ended up being a little easier than I expected. Unfortunately, since I am using the side steer box, I had to make the headers different from side to side, but I don't think it's a big deal. Who says hot rods have to be symmetrical in the first place? :)

I'm still running my "roller" Americans on the front right now, because I haven't gotten my prettied up 16" wheels back yet. I hope the guy shows up with them tomorrow.

    Here's a close-up of the installed driver's side header:

And here's another look at the passenger side:

I have to say that building the headers was easily one of the most difficult parts of building this car so far. I've got a little over 3 days worth of work tied up in them, and I'm still not finished. I still plan on adding a merge collector to both sides with a long extension like the early "lakes-style" headers. They should end up looking something like the headers on Ken Gross' roadster (TRJ #14).

I'm a firm believer in the theory that hot rods should be fast, so I did some research and talked to a few people before I decided to go with 2" primaries, and the 4 into 1 style header. It would have been easier to build a tri-y header on the driver's side, but this motor should respond better to the 4 into 1.

Looking at the driver's side header off the car and on the ground, it's amazing to me that it actually fits in the space between the steering column and frame.

The passenger side still needs an extension on a couple of the primaries to match the length of the other side.

Right now they exit under the car in kind of a staggered formation.

In the interest of time, I'm probably just going to run the headers like this to the Roundup (if I make it)...after I get back I'll add the collectors and have them chromed.

This is the first set of headers I've ever built for a car...and I think they came out pretty good so far. Thanks again to Joe Martin of the Martin Brothers for the 2" mandrel bends...and thanks also to the distinguished Jimmy White for the nice 3/8" flanges.

Very nice work. The clean, flat beads are very attractive.
