I know this has been discussed before, so don't tell me to do a search. Sometimes things change, and sometimes they don't. I'm thinking of ordering one of Norb's pick up boxes, and am wondering how timely have Last Refuge products been shipping lately? Have any additional workers been hired lately. In the past it sounds like everyone has received stuff, although some have had to wait longer than they thought they would have. What's the H.A.M.B. Consensus say?

With their history you'd be rolling the dice sending them money. They (and a few other "company's) have a horrible history of lengthy order waits as well as paid orders never being shipped. Their bad name comes up every couple of months on the HAMB.
Is there not another supplier of pick up beds? They can't be the only game in town...

  4. Can't help with that company, and I know yourve been here long enough to have seen their bad press.
There are companies outside the US that make em, and you may find the shipping way quicker, even though they are outa town, so to speak.
Just a different option for you to consider, although im sure other US companies must make em too.

I guess no bad news lately, is good news. Might roll the dice using a credit card.

Again, what is wrong with a Brookville box? They actually look like a Ford box. Bob

  7. The Last refuge bed is a poor copy of the original. Thinner gauge metal, lack of support structure, and it just plain won't fit due to being curved on the end that faces the cab. I would not recommend it for anything beyond a rat rod.

Or it means everyone on the HAMB has been smart enough to heed the warnings.

My first though Dean! don't know why someone would want to use a box that doesn't even look like Ford stuff when accurate appearing stuff is available. I think Mack's makes them too.

Thanks, got to give credit to the shop that makes them, but Brookville sure sells a lot of them. Bob

    $3,400.00 seems too high.

How long do you want that bed to be ? Brookvilles is as long as the stock bed and that is pretty long. My Son used a Brookville bed and it was first cl*** all the way, and it came immediately.

Last Refuge, as everyone has said, is very iffy. Bet you are back posting in a few months complaining about not getting your bed.

That is my original question.....I haven't seen a problem in a number of years....does anyone know of a recent first hand problem with Norb?

  23. Sounds as if you're willing to buy - regardless of product or service quality feedback from those who have experience.

Yep, that is how lousy vendors stay in business..........people think their buying experience will be different from the experiences 100 people before them had. How often do we see someone complaining about lousy service and yet there were a zillion negative reviews on that guy on line that they ignored ?

  26. I bought a bed from Brookville - don't recall the exact price - was around 1600.00 delivered to the Roundup. They even help me load it in my '40. The quality was very good - and they make a shorter version if the same bed.

Guess I never mentioned, I'm looking for a 32 box.

A friend ordered an "A" box 2 weeks ago, and Norb is making a trip and agreed to deliver it to Wisconsin this coming week. So I called and inquired about a 65" long 32 bed. Long story short, he SAYS he will be delivering them both next week. No delivery next week, and both credit card gets canceled.

    Stay tuned.

Not everybody! These posts usually get deleted. I bought one through ebay a coupe years back with the paypal money back program. It took a couple months to get everything. He buys his pockets from Mack's and he owed them money so they would not ship. He also was over due on shipping and had trouble getting major shippers to ship the bed. Between BBB and the Attorney General of Colorado I finally got it all. I threw out the front panel and rear roll pan and replaced with good ones. The bed roll was 3/4" too long and wrong size to fit the side pockets. I cut the roll off and replaced with 1" and shortened it by the 3/4" be correct to factory. The stock replacement center bed supports above the fenders had to be sectioned to fit the side revel and fit to the under bed sides. I would be way ahead to have just ordered from any other supplier of beds. It is done now and looks great but have a ton of cash in it to make it right.

A friend of mine got "Norbed" this very weekend. He drove from SC to Tennessee to meet Norb and buy a cab and bed. Norb stood him up saying he forgot, he had to get a car ready for SEMA.

Pretty typical from what I understand...
