Anyone aware of a resource to research the evolution of dry sump tanks? I am working on a OT period-correct race car and run into a wall on the oil tank. Although the car is off-thread, the ethos, effort and accuracy is spot on here. Like most things, they have changed a lot. Early split Moon tanks are probably correct. I think dirt track into the 80s is close. Most common is recently retired NASCAR surplus and it is closer to R2D2 than what would have been in a competition car 50 years ago. 1970 NASCAR would be right on. Goal is to find or build a three, four or five gallon tank which looks like time forgot. I am trying to establish what that looks like and what design/technology was inside. Thanks, Mike
