Would an '86 Caprice make a sutable donor for a front subframe in a 50's car? Why are the Camero/Nova subframes so common? It seems to me that there are alot more Caprices around, and it's a fullsize car so it'd be a natural choice. Am I missing something? Thanks. Have a nice day.

I personally wouldnt use it, you run into steering gear/radiator clearance problems, that on is what you call a front steer sub, the nova/camaro sub it a rear steer, the steer gear is behind the front x-member and is better suited for it, make sure its a 68-73 nova or 67-69 camaro sub also, the later ones a re front steer.

one more thing, the disk brake nova/camaro subs are an inche wider on each side, so in some cases yood have to narrow it if you get disk brakes, i personally dont mind a good working drum brake system, narrorer and not as popular in the fact that everybody wants the disk setup, i might know where a 67 camaro sub is available at, but it need a steering gear and drums.

  4. I used an '84 Capricefrt and rear end under a 49 Cadillac fastback- it worked well there. It would however be too big for many other makes[chevys] and not be practical because of the width.
