I picked up a Mallory 2648201 recently, and I need some parts for it. When I see parts listed for different series, is this referring to the first two digits of the part number? Like this would be a 26 series? Pretty much all the info I can find here seems to be relating to the old part number format. I'm wanting to find a cap and rotor for it, as well as a Pertronix module.

That link is just as I said, all the old three-digit numbers with suffix. This unit I have is newer than that, and the part numbers changed format at some point, I'm guessing in the 70s or 80s maybe. When looking for parts, I see stuff listed as fitting certain two-digir series, but what I don't know is how that correlates to the distributor part number. Logic would say that this would be a 26 series, but I know part numbers from old companies don't always operate on logic.. and I don't really want to order a rotor or Pertronix module for the wrong application.

Scroll down a little farther there's a chart that explains old to new numbers.

Ah, thank you, man! I didn't see those posted in the other thread. That clears a lot up! New cap and rotor on their way now.
