77.6 mph did this to my model a. Stock gears 'll do that to you. I ordered a new alloy gear from you know who and I am still waiting , bummer. I did pick up this new underdrive pulley from Charlie Yapp and it's the bees knees. I think the pulley will be a pain in the**** to install but it's time to check the babbit anyhow. happy bangin.
There is a time and a place for that and that was not it. Hope it was close to home when it came apart, does not look like a good way to end a road trip.
It was a buddy towing distance, with a chinese ratchet strap at that. That's hot rodding, if you aren't breaking anything you aren't trying very hard.
Wow! Never actually seen the results of a screwed fibre-wheel! Changed mine old ali one for a straight-cut bronze set last winter, howls like crazy now.
Noise equals friction, friction robs power, therefore that*****s but what can we do? I got a AL gear at cw moss today and i hope to get er bangin this weekend.
Straight cut gears are always noisy, because of the backlash. Helical gears are quieter, but more expensive to manufacture.
This cam nut is sooooo fun! It's like working on a frikin locomotive with the banged up too big nuts everywhere.
