Does anybody have any information on the Lay**** OD (Volvo) installed in a 35-40 ford? It looks like a nice setup

There was a guy doing them a while back - saw a thread relatively recently (last 2-3 months) over on Fordbarn - check over there.

    lay**** ????
that sure is a funny word for an o.d. set up.
    sounds more like a **** stars name....lol

  4. I have one of those units. It came in the trunk of a '40 Ford coupe I bought outa' S. CA.. If ya' lower the car you'll have to change the floorboards for clearance.

AND.............don't have it engaged and try to back up. I think this one was damaged because of that. I've never opened it up to see what's broken inside. Lay**** is the name of the European manufacturer for these OD units.

As previously mentioned. Go to the Ford Barn and do a search.

I priced the volvo, gear vendors, mitchell, columbia, ect...

Columbia, too expensive and hard to find rare parts
Volvo, over 2 year wait, they cut down your rear, so you need a core or have your car apart
Mitchel, pricey, but reasonable waiting time, all new components
Gear vendors, reasonable waiting time, all new components, price of 3 mitchel's

I ordered a mitchel. I think there may be some clearance problems on lowered cars though.
