I'm overcome by the quality of the cars on exhibit here...truely an epic exhibition of automotive expressionism....lucky the folks that got to witness it first hand....

  7. My point is.....It should be represented better. Not everybody who goes to shows "know". If I owned it,you can bet I would want everybody to know it's NOT a clone. The story that goes with this car is an amazing one. Not some guy who always wanted a Custom,so he bought one. It's extremely rare that a guy keeps a Custom car this long.

What is the story? Is that the used car lot in the 60's story?

  11. Amazing coverage B. Bob and all because you love it !! You need to submit some of your work to some magazines............

  12. thanks bob for all the pics.
i figgered you'd dig the flame scheme!

for everyone tripping on the curtains...
    they serve two purposes...

    one...
separates the "areas" of the show.

two... and VERY important for this show...
provides a solid back drop with no background interference. you get to shoot the car without having to worry about the car behind it. same reason sears photo studio always had a backdrop...

The story has been pretty well documented over the years in magazines and at least a couple of books. Something for a different thread or just doing a bit of research and finding out.

Thanks for giving the rest of us a great look at the show Bob and once again taking the time to share your great photos with us. I got to read and look through the whole thread in one setting tonight and that one is now on my must go to list.

  15. Dirty Doug sold it to a used car lot. He saw it and his brother told him he should buy it!. He borrowed the money from his girlfriends dad, bought it,and the rest is history....This is the words told to me by Jim himself.

(see you got your trans mount fixed)

  17. Not fixed yet! I just drove slow to the show. It will get fixed this weekend. I had to park outside the show cause I couldn't get over the elec wires in the driveway. Last time I went to a show there, the wires got caught on my rear shackles and pulled the power lines apart. Didn't want that again.

The original El Matador is here in Florida and it was restored exactly as it was by Murphy and the Striper, I've seen it, the paint's a little chipped and it's a bit beat up but it looks great.

    Thanks for the 'Show' BB!
    looking forward to the rest.

  26. I was going by what the owner of the clone told me. I haven't seen the original. He said the guy updated the drivetrain and stuff.

  27. I know! And he should put the original style steering wheel too! That Grant wood looking wheel looks aweful!

    yer what he said

  29. It freaked me out when you and Dick told me "Just jump in it and move it if you have to..." I don't think so....something always goes wrong. I would hate to damage anything on that beautiful Coupe. That overhead I took looks great! I put it in for the HAMB calendar, but Django changed the format this year to horizontal, haha! Oh well.
