Hello, Does anyone of you can tell me what lbs value choosing for rear shocks springs to assemble on a 32 ford coupe with fiberglass body and operational rear tank ? Thanks !
On my fiberglass 5 window I went by the chart in the Summit catalog. We weighed each corner and we ended up with 200 lb. coilovers. The ride is far better than before and my wife is happy.
The installed angle of the CO is as important as the weight of the car in determining the proper spring rate.
Installed angle is already defined, the car is complete, just need to replace the springs for ones more adapted !
Compare your shock angle to the chart above. More vertical = stiffer shock at any given rate. The same shock layed down more than shown with have a SOFTER effective spring rate. So, a 200# shock may vary from somewhere in the 150# area to 250# approximately
I’m in the process of building a T Bucket. According to Speedway Motors, I should be using two 150 lb springs. with that info, I needed 300 lbs of springs using a standard rear axle. But since I am using a J@#¥€§&* rear with 4 shocks at a good angle, I used four 100 lb springs. While still in the build stage, I like the movement and return I am getting. Hope this helps
