LeMans and Grand Prix are the two BEST racing movies ever made.....Nobody since has even come close!
Curious what Ron Howards F1 movie will be like.

Love that movie; bought it and Bullitt on blu-ray not quite a year ago.

Anyone who hasn't REALLY needs to hook their stereo/surround sound system up when they watch it. Brings the movie to a whole new level.

  4. LeMans and Thunder Road wrecked me last night! Hit record for the last one and hit bed at 12:30.

I think I read somewhere that Jerry Seinfeld now owns the 917 used as the camera car. It's a cool car!

I restored that car for Otis Chandler in 1990...yes, Jerry Seinfeld owns it now. One of the coolest projects of my career!

I managed to see both Lemans and Grand Prix in the theater when they first came out.

I think Grand Prix is the best racing action movie ever made. The final scenes with James Garner hitting those banked turns at the Spa Raceway are incredible. James was hitting about 180mph with the first remote controlled camera strapped to the front A-arms. Now that's some cool ****! McQueen is still the king of Cool.

Still wish the right cars had been used for Le Mans. Movie is based on Le Mans 1969. The 1969 race was the last hurrah for the Ford GT40's. Porsche's new 917 was very fast but the Fords drove the Porsches through their brakes. Porsche 908 came in second by a few seconds. Closest Le Mans race ever. Ferrari was never compe***ive. The NART car ended up almost 50 laps down.
