Sorry I will miss you this time Russ. I know I enjoyed hanging out with you when you brought the Volvo last time.

That's Cool... I can remember when I first discovered my Mormon family in Mesa Arizona that Small Town with Streets Schools & more named "SIRRINE" after my Grt.Grt.Grt.Grt.Unc George Sirrine. Uncle George Sirrine was sent to Arizona by Brigum Young in 1877 to form a Colony in the Salt River Valley in the Arizona Territory. The group of about 60 folks including George Sirrine were known as "The First Mesa Company" they arrived in the Valley in 1878.
They chose to form their Town on the Mesa instead and redo the ancient canal systems made by the earlier Native American Peoples.
Later Theodore Sirrine was sent to Florence Arizona where he filled a Land Claim on Section 22. George Sirrine, Charles Robson, Francis Pomeroy were named Trustees of the land.
George Sirrine & Wife Esther had nine children, George died in Mesa Arizona on December 2, 1902.
It's cool to know your Family History (Genealogy)...

Hope to meet You tomorrow. IMG_9808.jpeg I’ll be driving this . If there’s another 57 4 door there . Mines the one with the tree in the bumper. It keeps it from rattling.

I will look for you. I am rather fond of 57 Fords. I was in 7th grade that year.

This craftsmanship on this car was fantastic.

    Another very well built car.

One of the great things about this open show is the people.

And the gathering at the host hotel. Again, the best part is the people.

In the morning, I've got 400 miles to Amarillo.

    Good night, Russ

Almost to Oklahoma City, nothing interesting to report. The rolling green countryside is easy in this desert rat's eye's.

    Buying more coffee and gas.

    264 miles to go.

Big Texan in Amarillo, TX. About 2 miles from RT-66. The motel is old time western motif.

BIG dining room. This is the home of the free 72 Oz steak challenge. You have 1 hour to eat the 4.5 pound steak, salad, sides, rolls, shrimp and probably stuff I forgot. The challenge takes place at the table on the platform. No participants tonight.

If you fail, you have to pay $72.00.

I managed to eat the 8 Oz sirloin meal and about 1/2 of a HUGE strawberry shortcake.

Big Texan tip: If you get a kid's meal (which is plenty of food for us older folks), you get a cowboy hat with it!

We went by that Big Steak place last time we left Douglas Arizona, not enough money to stop and eat that time had to save money for gas all the way back to South West Michigan, that place is huge outside. Glad you had enough to eat, hope you don't get the back barn yard runs on your way home Russ. Stay safe enjoy the road trip my friend.

Thank y’all for supporting US beef producers. I like to eat beef . It’s a form of revenge for all the bumps , bruises and a couple nights in the hospital

    It "Depends" ;)

I turn 81 this month. I am driving from rest room to rest room.

I think this is my last long distance trip.

Museum at the Russell Truck Stop, I-40, NM. There was something for everyone- A polite way to say saying very cluttered.
