I picked up a full quart of sign painters pinstriping paint from an estate sale. When I got it home, it says it contains lead. Is it legal to re-sell? Seems like the right person would be glad to have the vintage matched color.
Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. It is not legal for a non licensed company (individual) to sell paint anyway, much less with lead, chrome, mutagens or carcinogens Not to say it couldn't happen, but do you have an MSDS to supply? Liability insurance? There is nothing wrong with leaded paint. In fact, it will have WAY better hiding power than non leaded coatings. The only real issue is sanding it off later. Unless someone drinks it or swims in it, the real issue is breathing the dust. Find a buddy that can use it and give it away. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
When they took the lead out the paints became weaker, lead bonds with the oil and crosslinks making it harer and more durable and solvent resistant over time. If it is still liquid and the can hasn't rusted into it on the inside keep it and use it with only a brush as intended, do not dilute and spray.
Lead was banned from all consumer products in 1978 and one shot was required to adhere to the law. I know the sign painters in this area says it is not as good a product as it once was,,but I would think some sign painter would love to have it. BTW,,when I was selling one shot Magenta was never a popular color. HRP
Looks like it's been opened,... probably many years ago. I doubt if it's any good, except to be used as a garage display. . .
Just peel the paint skin off , add a little mineral spirits and stir . It should be good to go , although it might need to be strained . I still have a few cans with lead and wish that I had more .
No paint skin, it's liquid all the way to the bottom. It appears to have been opened once, but they must have only needed a little bit.
