Um, I usually just attend GG shows as well as some Right coast shows. This is my first lead sled show to be honest I find it a little confusing with 3 shows with similar names. I hope the Lead SCENE East will be a good one. Larry

You are more than welcome Lothi !

When they say rain or shine, they mean it. One heck of a storm blew through right at the pre-show party on Thurs night last year. They honkered down, it past, and they openend up the grilles again and had a good time. Plenty of pavilion space to duck under when it hits, but the fields get slick as snot on a wet raincoat.

But it's one of those events where there is always something to do. No reason to get bored and the grounds are always up for cruising.
Poker run, Chevy Ranch tour and the same cool museum from the jalopy showdown should be open and is nearby.

Even though it's not restricted to pre-65, they really love the Hambers........................

The KKOA Sled Scene East is the original. The KKOA held this show for many years in Biglerville, PA.

After being unable to come to terms with the owners of the park grounds for future shows, they decided to move the show to a Maryland venue. The Maryland venue was not too successful and they withdrew from the area for a few years. KKOA recently announced their event would return to Pennsylvania in September.

The rival KOA group managed to book the Biglerville park after the KKOA left and picked a name similar to the KKOA show.

I should add that this information is based on public announcements I have read, I wasn't privy to any of the internal dealings of either group.

I wouldn't count on it. This location hosted the KKOA's Sled Scene East for many years, and for a long time was a great kustom show. The show lost its draw over the last 5 to 7 years. Long story short, the KKOA pulled out of the location and was replaced, for one year, by the KOA. This was a poorly attended show so, in turn, the KOA pulled out. Last year, a gentleman who goes by the name Video Bob decided to try his hand at it, under the name Lead Scene East..Confused yet?

Well anyway, we've gone to the show, making the 5 hour drive, for many years, even through the recent lean years. But last year, the first for Video Bob, was the worst I'd ever seen it. A total of about 100 cars, with literally 20 interesting enough to stop and look at. Needless to say, we have taken it off of our list of shows to attend. I really hope the show rebounds and makes a liar out of me, but I seriously doubt it..

I hope it makes a liar out of you too, however I am going and I have convinced a couple of buddies to attend also. If they got 100 cars last year as a first year event I would say that it was succesful and should double that this year. I am forgoing GG Columbus to go to this show. I have been to Columbus for the past 6 or 7 years and just need a change.I am actually looking forward to Gettysburg!!!!!!!

I can't say much about last year's show, but I went to the Lead Scene East event a couple of years back and it wasn't a bad show. It wasn't a huge event, but had quite a few nice cars (the Kopper Kart clone being one of them, and some other old Customs).

One great thing about that area- if you get tired of the show, you can take a ride over to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (www.EMMR.org- its a must visit if you're in the area), visit Gettysburg and take in the sights at the Battlefied and in town, or ride up to the AACA museum in Hershey.

Wish I could tell you it's the best show on earth, but I know Bob and his wife and their crew are putting a lot of heart into it.

Rather than just providing a place to park your car and sit in your lawn chair hoping someone will come by and like your car, they come up with a list of things to do. They really promote things to bring people together to enjoy each others company.

I really enjoyed the live band (indoors with a dance floor) because everyone that did attend had a great time. ***isted Living is a music group comprised of people who are survivors from several bands that knew what kind of music fits our carsy life.

They are always asking for ideas to make the event even more enjoyable like the poker run this year. When we cruise out of the grounds for other places of interest, it's always well run and organized.

There's games offered for club compe***ion which is rare at car events. Music is always playing from the bandshell, but easy to get away from too if you want to enjoy time together just chillin.

The grounds are nice and well set up for the swap and vendors, the show and shine area, the canopy area along the treeline, the lake and concession area. Simply put, I really enjoy it.............

Thank you for the flowers, Sir Woosh. Had made plans to make it up there to the Jalopy Showdown to hang out with you & some of our Lead Scene East gang but was unable to due to a lot of last min things that needed to be taken care of on our Biglerville show. Was glad to hear that the Showdown racked up another successful year. From what I hear you guys had a blast.
While everyone is still pumped up from the Showdown I need to fill you in on what we have coming down the pike for this yrs Lead Scene East show.
We'll start kicking our festivities off on Thurs eve with a big early arrival party that includes lots of food & drink. Mid way thru the meal we're going to surprise 3 people with an xtra serving of "dessert" that will consist of a $50 bill. *****
Friday morning at Lead Scene East is more or less a laid back affair to allow our people to renew old friendships, check out the cars, swap meet, vendors etc. At high noon, prior to the arrival of "Batman" & his Batmobile, our hourly $25.00 Participant Cash Drawings will begin & run thru 4:00. For those who attend the show as a spectator, there will be a $25.00 per hr Cash Drawing for them also.
Around 4:30 the cars will begin lining up for a cruise to Bill Martin's "Chevy Ranch" on the out skirts of Biglerville. For those who haven't seen Bill's collection of old rides, you're in for a treat.
After a few hrs of R & R, Lead Scene East's 1st annual Poker Run will get under way on Fri eve in down town Gettysburg. For those who know how to handle their cards, there will be a $250.00 jackpot waiting to be split 4 ways
On Saturday there will be a variety of games & contests offered thru out the day along with a Model Car Contest, Ladies Bingo etc. For those who are unable to attend all 3 days of our event, we will be offering a one day (Sat) p*** this yr.
At high noon on Saturday the Participant & Spectator Cash Drawings will begin with the final draws being made at 4:00.
At 4:30 the cars will begin lining up for a 2nd cruise up 15 towards Gettysburg. If you have never seen close up super detailed footage of your ride cruising down the hy way at 60 mph, you don't want to miss out on this special ECCA cruise.
After a short break for some much needed R & R everyone will meet back at the Oakside Park to enjoy one of the best bands ever to cruise into the Oakside Park.
After the oldie sounds from the ***isted Living group slip into the darkness & day lite ascends on Lead Scene East 2012 the participants will begin filing back into the beautiful Oakside Community Park to say their goodbys & take home some of the nearly $3000 in CASH that will be given away.
******Ok this should enlighten everyone as to what we have on the agenda for this yrs Lead Scene East Rod & Custom show in Biglerville. I'd like at this time to extend a sincere Thank you to the 210 cars that cruised in to support us last yr. Had it not been for the predicted storms & hail that we were threatened with all weekend I belive we could've easily doubled the number of cars we had.
Hope to see you all in Biglerville on June the 8th, 9th & 10th

    Video Bob

Think about the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green KY Fathers Day weekend as well if you're looking for a change from the GG type of venue. Also the HAMB Drags in Aug.

  22. Does this meet have much of a flea market? I'm not really into the lead sled thing, but a good flea market is allways fun.

It's not a huge flea market, but it's not a bunch of craft stuff like at a park festival either. Plus they have vendor row which I've seen King of Dice and so on. Not sure who all is going to be there this year.
But this is an event I heard people talking about as one that's building up........

Lead Scene is the ***le, but it's open to anything stock or modified. Check out the awards at the site................

Thanks Bob, wish you were here. The show is rebuilding with new people. There's a meeting tomorrow morning just to hear what those in attendance would like to see and have happen.

I'll be taking pics tomorrow to share, but the best will be on Saturday. Lots of ativities too.....................

Lotta cool stuff showed up already when there was nothing to do but register and eat............. (included in the $20 early registration fee for the whole weekend!)

Have a good weekend yourself Bob!
