1952-59 Ford leaf spring front bolt - how to

    can somebody tell me how to install the front bolt of the rear leaf spring exactly? pics would be great.
    for me it looks like my bolt is too long:mad:

    I have 55, so there could be some difference from your 53. Bolt should about 4" or so, extra length doesn't matter unless you run out of threat or exhaust pipe is an obstacle.

    With the car supported on its frame and the wheel off I used a floor jack to move the spring/eye into position and a centering/alignment tool inserted from the backside for precise alignment of the holes to insert the bolt. No - the bolt is likely not going to go in with a push of the hand, it should be a tight fit, no play/slop (don't recall if I used a rubber hammer or hammer and wood (I wanted nice appearance).

    This is the Bolt on my '54. I'm pretty sure that all 52-54 have the same bolt for the rear suspension. For this one I took off the nut and used a mallet to push the bolt out from the inside.
