leaf spring problem

I am ready to re-install the leaf springs on my 54 Ford ranch wagon project, But now I can't remember if the short side goes toward the front or rear. Does anybody remember, can you help me out?

 

I believe that generally the short side is forward, but you should be able to determine by if the pin is centered in the wheelwell. Assuming your rearend perch have the centered hole for the pin.

 

Every car I can remember goes short side to the front.
