Technical Leaky 1950 Buick 4 Door

Asking a question for a mate, he has a 1950 4 door Buick Super. The car is leaking water in through the front doors around the front hinges. The water is wetting the door cards and soaking the carpet.
Do they usualy have a J seal around this area there is no real evidence of one being there in the past. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
