Now before you say it, I WANTED to test this stuff, just to see how well it worked. I did NOT believe any of the ridiculous TV ads saying that it would seal up a pressurized leaky garden hose.

I tried the Leak Ender 2000***** in hopes that it would seal up a very slow drip at the tailhousing joint in my manual*******. To give an idea, the******* lost about a pint in 3 weeks.
I've been cleaning the joint with Brakleen and smearing it with Form A Gasket for about 3 weeks now and it has slowed it but it hasn't stopped. So, I wondered how well this stuff would work. I bought a can at my local mall (arrrgh) and went home to check it out. Well the instructions on the bottle are half-assed AT BEST. It says it works on a list of applications, it does not say automotive, but it does list Boating. So, it says that it is flammable, but not in what state. I wanted to make sure that it would not erupt into flames with the heat of the*******, once it is "dry."
Well, it doesn't ever "dry" the gimmick is that it stays flexible, but it is still goopy the following day. I sprayed some onto an old pipe I had and took a propane torch to it after about 12 hours. It did not burn, it's consistency changed a bit, but it did not erupt into flames, and that is much hotter than my******* will ever get.
I sprayed it on the joint of the******* after hosing it off with the Brakleen again. It went on really thick and goopy so I was optimistic. I went out today to check on it, and sure enough, my leak found its way through. And it doesn't even seem to have slowed it down at all.
I have since read several other testimonials from consumers that say the stuff didn't work for them either, for sealing pipe joints and leaky stuff around the house. Well, I tend to believe them, now that I've seen this product in use.
Now I need to test the "money back guarantee." [IMG]

I swear by JB weld. Take it on trips along with the duct tape, bailing wire, and vise grips. [IMG] Seriously, I patched a rust hole a 1/2" wide inthe bottom of a vw bug gas tank where the steering stabilizer wore a hole (from being waaay too low). I cleaned it, slathered on JB, and drove it for another year before selling it, and it was still fine.

Gr8, it was such a****** getting this thing in there, I don't want to have to take it out again if I can half-ass it.

I was wondering about the JB weld, but doesn't the area have to be really clean? How long does it take to set up?

often the problem with fixing the leak as you describe from the outside it will not work.

the oil gets under the sealant and moves through.

the leak must be stopped from the inside at the source

JB weld is some good stuff when used correctly.

Although a buddy used JB on his cracked sand rail frame years ago and he did not understand why it cracked out so quickly.

I never thought it would work at all. Someone told me to try it around the distributor on my SBC and I was surprised that it did work. Since then, I've sort of been testing the half-assed method before doing it the right way.
I got some JB weld today, so we'll see if that'll work.

I once JB welded a t-stat housing back together. I broke the thing in two when I didn't clean all the gasket off and tried to bolt it down.

While it didn't work the greatest, it did work. after about a month the JB got soft from being in contact with the antifreeze.

    That stuff is tuff though.

Well, no matter what eventually seals it up, the important part of this post was to save you guys from wasting your money the way I did.

When I was a kid I use to go to the magic store and buy all the gag stuff. chewing gum "guaranteed to turn your mouth blue!". soap that turns your hands black and candy that starts a fire on your tounge and other stuff.

Then my brother and I would take them with us when we visited our grandma and offer her some "gum" or "candy". NONE of it EVER worked, and she was a real good sport and laughed with us. [IMG]

But we finally found out that the real truth behind the "jokes" is that the joke was on us... the ones who fell for it and bought it.

Some how this story ties into your original post... but I lost my train of thought. you can find a connection... right? [IMG] [IMG]
