Remember the 56' Chevy convert that Greg Brady bought for $100 bucks and sold to a scrap yard for $50? The kid that Greg tried selling the car to was Toad later of American Graffitti fame.
The Twilight Zone had an episode where some Hot Rodders moved in town, I don't remember much about it, I saw it when I was a kid, anybody remember it?
Does anyone else remember "The Life of Reilly" episode with the Don Hudson deuce highboy ? ( later to become the Tom McMullen highboy)"
Didn,t Wally bring home a 55-56 Ford in one episode? Remember the porn episode ??? Ward was a little hard on the Beaver in that one.....
It was a trick guys used to use to get girls to go parking... "There! Did you see that one?" "No..." "Oh man! Look at 'em go...!" "But... I don't see anything..." "Well... It looks like there all done. Now what should we do...?" JOE
Right...Mike Brady stands there shaking his head over Greg paying $100 for "that piece of junk". $100 for a '56 ragtop was a good deal, even in the early '70s!
There was an episode of "The Donna Reed Show" titled "Four on the floor" where "Jeff buys a '46 - '48 Ford convertible, brags that he knows all about cars. But the car acts up - because his girlfriend dropped her necklace under the hood and shorted something out. Priceless!
I also remember an episode of "My Three Sons" where the oldest son (blanked out on his name) wants to buy a new car and get rid of his "old junker"--a '54 Pontiac convertible that looks show quality. Since the show was sponsored by Pontiac, I think he ends up with a '65 GTO.
In the waltons, one of the boys has some type of roadster after the war that he builds. "cricket" was from "surfside 6" not "77". I also remeber going to see a Pat Boone(yuk) Movie when i was really small with alot of Rods in it, i think it was called bernedett or something like that. I just saw the LITB when wally got the 36, he had it on the front lawn & ward & june got pissed, it was blocking there car.So wally parts it out for $37, paid 25 for it, then had it towed for $10, so he was happy to make a duece on it!!lol
I saw one where Wally & Ward went out looking at used cars & Wally ended up with a Chevy convert (I don't remember the year except '54 or older) Then Wally takes the family out for a ride in it. Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy
Someone mentioned the twilight zone. Does anybody remember an episode where in the future, convicts would be imprisoned on deserted planets. Well one guy was left on a planet with nothing to do but "tinker" with an old model A (till the supply ship dropped off a female robot). I loved it, even so far in the future that space travel is routine, we're still tinkering with model A's, and taking them to other PLANETS! And it still looked bone stock, talk about a surviver, probably a space station find.
Wondered if anyone else noticed the Model A has a '32 grille & I think some of the wheels are '35 wires ...
Does anyone have this episode? I heard about it but never seen it. If so please dub it for me and ill send you a few bucks.
Thanks for testing my memory with the TV trivia. Connie Stevens played ''Cricket'' on the ''Hawaiian Eye'' series....and made appearances on 77 Sunset Strip...thus my mix-up but she also made the song Kookie,Kookie Lend Me Your Comb with Ed ''Kookie'' Byrnes ....Didn't like Hawaiian Eye or Surfside 6 in Miami Beach that much. Any more TV cars that you remember???? LEE
I remember channel surfing and catching that Walton's re-run with that white roadster, and his military buddy (who happened to be black) got into some trouble, either crashed the car or something of that sort...should have payed more attention to it when I was watching...
Hey Richard D....Who are you calling old timer..HAHA....Junkyard Dog 32 was right about Submarine race watching....trick to get the girls....who most likely knew what it was all about anyway. Used to listen to rock n roll New York City DJ Murray the K on 1010 WINS way back in the ''olden'' days and he used that term nightly....yeah and so did we....kinda corny but that was then and now is now. Barney coming back to visit Andy in Mayberry driving an Edsel convert and sounding his Bermuda Bell when he arrived....bought a bell from J.C.Whitney....but I never used it! LEE
Any body know what season or the name of the episode? The first two seasons are available from Netflix.
The "Walton" roadster was actually Lil John Buttera's smoothed off original-billet roadster, with some Moon caps snapped on. About as far from 1950's hotrodding as you can get. The one that was copied shortly after with the Corno roadster.
