My Dad used to race there when I was a Kid, the dirt track... It was where Shirley Muldowney Won her First time out in the Funny Car class I guess Jdee
Lebanon is a great track. We raced there from '64-'74. I still have about 25 trophies from there. (many of our trophies just fell apart with age and we threw them out; I wish I'd kept them and had them restored!) Anyway, like its been said, it is a full 1/4 which runs behind the oval track there. My cousin was the starter at both tracks during the '60's. Commander family owns it, good people.
I agree. Great track with a few unique features. The ET and speed signs are located before the finish line so you have to remember to stay in it well past them. Also, the shut down area abuts several private properties so there are always people sitting out in lawn chairs waiving at you as you fly by with your chutes out. The return road is raised above the track at the finish line and actually forms the guard wall. I ran 227 mph there in the early 90's.
I remember in the early sixties, before all the advertising boards on the right side of the track, watching fuelers make passes and seeing guys standing out in that montain stream in waders fly fishing while fuelers are going by. I'll never forget that. Lebanon was/is unique!
