Has anyone installed a LB 32 Roadster interior kit? Pro's and Con's. Any pic's? Thinking about using one in a Brookville body.

I had one in a original Deuce roadster. It was OK but I took it OUT and had a custom one made and installed. The stock stuff was just too high up and not back far enough to be " comfortable " :) The springs were soft and sagged.

As a disclaimer ... I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and crossed the scales at 300. It may have been OK if you are a smaller person physically.

You can get a custom one installed out the door for what some of those kits go for. Check around with your local upholstery places and get estimates. Sometimes even getting a stock style interior put in ..made from scratch from your local place will be cheaper too. Check around before dropping the cash...those kits aren't cheap

My upholstery guy used my LB cardboard as a starting point. Said it saved him sometime but it needed fitting.

I have heard that LB will do an interior kit using materiel other than repo origional. Anyone know for sure? I know a call will confirm or deny................just thought I'd ask as this thread was already started. Anybody have any experience with this?

I have a friend who had L-B to make his kit all black but in a stock pattern, so YES ... they do stuff other than 100 per cent original looking. :) :)

Thanks for the info. I have talked to them and they make a "Hot Rod" kit that is designed to fit a fiberglass car. It has the roll at the top of the backrest. My Brookville body had the stock seat set up in it but I moved it back and lowered it for more room. Was planning to use foam instead of the stock springs for more support. Any one have any pic's?

In 1998, I had LB put together a stock interior for my '31 AV8 in red. Came out real nice. The springs were too thick, so I removed them, replaced them with dense cell foam and stapled the covers back on. It lowered the seat cushion about 3-4 inches and the back rest about 5 inches. I'm 6' 3" so it made the car easier to drive and see out of the w/s. It's got over 58,000 miles on it now and is showing a little wear here and there, but I'm very happy with the quality and durability.

I used the LB original style kit for my '32 Roadster. Vinyl kick, door and shoulder panels, leather seat covers, bottom and back, plus stock style floor mat. Fit my original car perfectly. I didn't use seat springs, used dense foam. I am very happy with the fit and materials. Total cost was around $1,200. I am not financially able to have Ron Mangus or any of the other great upholsters whip up one of their custom jobs. For my car the LB kit is perfect.
