Legacy '36 is the street rod project (hence the Off Topic post) that started with the car my dad bought in 1975 as a 'father and son' project, that we never seemed the find the time to work on. When my dad p***ed away in 2022, I inherited the car, and took on the task of getting it done. The '36 Fordor Touring Sedan has a 3" chop, shaved hinges, EFI sbc 383 and 4L60e, leading to a 9" rear. All this sits on a modified early Roadster Shop frame with IFS, dropped axles, disc brakes all around, and 4 link rear. Interior features Cl***ic Instruments gauges, Lokar floor shifter, A/C, and a Wise Guys bench seat. It is a work in process and a labor of love. Thanks to Platinum Custom Cars, Manteno IL Mike Dumas, owner) for the work they are putting into this build, and a special Thanks to Bobby Walden for the awesome roof insert. To be continued... 20240929_221208.jpg IMG_20240926_190404.jpg IMG_20240926_073258.jpg 20241114_122226.jpg

Nice project, looks like a lot of hours have been spent on the build so far. My Dad bought a slant back '35 new, so I'll be following your progress. Bob

Thanks, Bob. Love the finish on the '35, you can actually see the trees and buildings in the reflection!

...about 2 months have p***ed, and Legacy '36 has wheels! Running Wheelsmith artillery wheels, BFG rubber 235/60/15×7 front, 275/60/15×8 rear, smooth center caps, trim rings (not shown).

Another month, more progress. The shop doing the work (Platinum Custom Cars, Manteno, IL) plans to display the "in process" Legacy '36 at this year's World of Wheels show in Rosemont, IL. this March. Check it out if you get the chance.

Very nice! I like the firewall work along with the one piece front fenders. Details like that are worth the time. Bob

Thanks, Bob. I used a firewall with about a 5" recess to accommodate a small block Chevy with its rear mount distributor.
The bump out on the driver's side covers the steer clear offset box, the bump on the p***enger side is the mounting point for the coil and maintains visual symmetry. 20250128_135717.jpg

Thanks, lots left to do, but HOPING to be on the road about this time next year. The car will be 90 years old in 2026, and it would be nice to drive it to my 50th cl*** reunion, which is also in 2026. Also Rt. 66 100th anniversary in 2026, would like to participate in the festivities in Joliet, Springfield, St. Louis, or ????
