Have 2" dropped spindles and suddenly the car does not have the turning radius it had. Any clues out there? It's a 64 impala 4 door. Also with the new disc brakes I do not have near the vacum I should have, so I'm standing on the brakes, whoa silver! Cam is a 262 extreme energy comp cam that I thought would not effect the vacum too much. I'm learning...

The spindles are cast iron instead of forged steel They are thicker to increase their strength. This moves the steering arms back and increases the turning radius like twice. It also screws with the ackerman. If you had gotten new arms it could be made right but you use the original arms. I tried to figgure out how to modify the arms for turning and ackermam but did not feel comfortable doing it. I took it all off and sent it back. The tapers for the ball joints on mine were also screw up.

Funny, 25 years ago you'd check the Moog Spring Catalog, find a shorter spring with similar or equal spring rate, install them and have the front end aligned, and VOILA, a nice lowered car that still handles like a stocker.

  4. All are the available dropped spindles like this or are there good ones and bad ones ?

    I agree with Pasadena's reply.

I think they are all made by the same people. I got my stuff from Cars Inc in Chicago. They were made by McCauly? or something like that. Junk in my opinion.

Might sound dumb and obvious but make sure your rubber brake lines are free and not affecting the turning radius. I had to get longer ones when I put 2in drop spindles on my Dakota.

HMMM, well they fit nice and I really would like to keep them. Any other news out there on how to make this work with at least a normal turning radius? Thanks for all the input!
