Lessons learned from Dad

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Big Mac, Dec 8, 2011.

  1. The Ol' Man used to have a cresent wrench and a pair of vise grips (I have them now) which ever one of them I wasn't trying to use got flung at me. You don't use either on a car.

Probably the biggest lesson I learned from the Ol' Man is that it is OK to be yourself. Maybe someone else won't like it but they can just go to hell if it bothers 'em that much. Good lessen I suppose I have never been very good at being what everyone wanted me to be.

Thought I would put this back to the top....

One year after I posted this, dad got diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away a few months later. I sure miss him. Got reading back through these posts again today and it reminded me of how lucky I was to have him around while I did. Sounds like I'm not the only one who had a clever dad that taught me about life in some very memorable ways. Those of you who cruise around with your dads, do me a favor and go take him for another cruise. Things can change in the blink of an eye.

    Sure miss you pops...
