you know Gary if you take something and make it your own the pisstakers cant take the piss anymore,in other words a derogatory term has no more affect a bit like the rockers thing in the 60's.As you know the mods used the term "Rocker" as a derogatory term for bikers, the bikers soon took this term up and splashed it on thier jackets and became proud to be Rockers.People take things to heart too much which then gives others leverage, this has happened throughout history name calling can cause all sorts of trouble. Now i'm building a "Rat Rod" and i'm proud of it,It's well engineered and put together but looks a little rough, thats how i like them and as for the others who think "Rat Rod "is a derogatory term and will upset me **** EM i say they are a bunch of ****ers who will never understand.Let em drive round in their rice burners, astras and corsas with a big **** exhaust can and tiny powerless engine, they will just never get it..........Marq
I wanted to bolt something together similar to what my dad woulda built after coming home from "the war", had he not been into Harleys. He bought a 2 year old Harley with his mustering-out pay. Later on in life, he took up an interest in hot rods and even built a couple for himself. He never got to see this 33 ford pickup I built but I think he'd have loved it. I really don't mind if it's refered to as a "rat rod" or anything else. To say it was nice would be a stretch. A really loooooooooooong stretch!
Every car I ever owned was a Rat Rod, for one reason or another....... Actually, I think the term was taken from us bikers..we have allways had "Rat Bikes"
nope probably not the rice burners but they sure know the expression and sure use it a lot............Marq and yeah i had heard the term rat bike long before i heard the term rat rod infact i seem to remember my mate had a rat bike in the late 70's all painted matt black and i mean all everything cept the seat which was erm black tape.Everyone called that a rat bike.......Marq
