In January of 09, I was on the hunt for a 35-37 truck project for my wife. I wasn’t quite finished with the 51 but thought if the right project fell into our lap, what the hell. Well we found a 37 truck right here on the HAMB up in Woodward, OK that Stews29 was selling. The truck had already been chopped about 3”, had a MII installed, a tubular k member, and a 4 linked narrowed 9" and. After a few phone calls with Chris and emails back and forth, I left early on a Friday afternoon to pick it up. Well it’s been a crazy couple of years and we faced some unexpected delays, but just recently started getting serious about jumping into this. The cool thing with putting this project off, I have been able to start to accumulate parts. Anyway, I thought a build thread was in order and I hope to chronicle the build right here as I go.

The initial plan is to start from the frame up, button up the suspension, get the motor mounted, which will be a rebuilt 350 with an M22 behind it, and sort out the pedal assembly. From there we’ll start piecing it together. Anyway here are some of the early shots, all the way up until I pulled the cab today..

Once home we had to lower it down the driveway. That's Rix Rex helping out

I saw this here on the HAMB and figured why not give it a whirl, worked like a charm

I didn't do all the work on my 51 but learned alot, I'm hoping to do everything on this project going forward. I'll keep you posted along the way....

Thanks guys. Yep; going to keep it full fendered, pretty much going to leave the outside as it sits now.

    Greg,
I had a 38 Chevy in high school. I still love those trucks! I am so glad you are keeping the fenders. Looks like you guys have a really good start.

Nice project that I'll be following. The clutter free shop is something I don't have, maybe it is time to clean house. That's a 35 Truck grille correct? How well does the hood fit, or are the 35&37 cabs the same?

Neat little truck. I like the 36 grill over the 37 too. Hope you keep it.

  22. The stance made me think of Winfield's truck..:) Gonna be a pretty sweet build. will stay tuned.

Empahtically no. I'm not going to do that to myself. We'll see how it goes, maybe Pistons and Paint, but more realistically, LSRU 12.

I have d rop spindles in now, If the weight drops it to low, I can go back to the stock spindle. Depending on how the weight displaces towards the rear, I can go up on the rear shock mounts.
