For all of you that offered suggestions and encouragement on my post about the big move to middle 10-UH-C, THANK YOU!

I’m pleased to report that progress is finally being made on the addition to the existing shop building. After two months of bad weather, snow and ice, frozen clay pits, and weeks of set back for the building company, not to mention an additional outlay for tons of extra gravel, we have begun construction.

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve done excavation (12” grade)., foundation fill, and today the concrete got poured and finished! I’m so relieved, after all the delays. We did find the existing slab out of level front to back (3”) so that took more work and material to get the new foundation level. Good grief!!

It’s 24 x 32, like the existing one, but with a 12’ ceiling for the lift.

Congratulations! At the tender age of 61 I also built my first shop this year and it’s great to have a place to putter around.

Nice! Will the two share a wall, or will the existing shop get opened up to make them one space?

There will be two walls ****ed together, with an 8x10 opening in them. Where that cutout is now, but higher.

Thanks! I told them slick and they comprende’d. They know their stuff.
Probably did it four times with the power trowel.

    Congratulations!

They poured my cement a year and a half ago. I feel your pain. Going from the initial planning stages to the final product was a long and painful process. But it was oh so worth it in the end.

    Congratulations!
That floor looks nice and smooth. Will there be water? 220v? Heat?

BTW, we could be neighbors in a few years. My beloved bride wants to move to a Nashville 'burb after we retire. We met there and she's a TN native.

Congratulations on the progress! Looks great and the high ceiling was a good call.

I’m still working on mine after 14 years but I’ve been working IN it for that long as well. If I could do it all over I probably wouldn’t lol.

    Great job on your workshop/garage.
I love the fact that you have a quite tall ceiling ..... can I suggest that, if possible, you build a mezzanine.
It's a great way of storing stuff that's not being used regularly and provides more useable floor space on the ground level.
BUT ..... there is a downside, you inherently collect more ****, don't ask me how I know.

Murfreesboro is OK. Lots of car life all around N’ville. Haven’t had time to plug into it yet. Have NO desire to get into N’ville and all of its traffic!
Moving from the mountains takes some adjusting. But the wife is happy!
She’s close to the daughter, grands and new greatgrand. The reasons for the move.
