Oh the life of a public servant. If you knew how many times I've been told "I pay your salary!" To which i explain that my salary comes from property taxes, not from your beer and cigarettes... Been out all night cutting trees and telling people that we can't spray water on power transformers and tree limbs that are in the power lines, and responding to car wrecks all night, wondering where everybody is going at 3am in the middle of an ice storm, trust me, they wasn't going to work. Then finally it's time to come home!! Yay!! And i pull in the driveway and BAM!!! Yep, good times.... anybody else? Oh, missed her truck 20210211_082711.jpg  20210211_082720.jpg

Yikes. No fun at all as we went through the same thing back in October. Ice came in, took a bunch of trees down which took out power lines, etc. Still cleaning up the mess. Hoping you don't have too much damage other than the cleanup.

It didn't hurt the El Camino, but it looked bad when i was coming up the driveway lol. Just a nasty mess I've gotta clean up now. I buy firewood for $75 a load, ain't worth my time to cut my own lol.

Looks like it was a widow maker at the base, good thing you didn't park anything right under it.

I shovel coal into my outdoor burner and that gives me time to sit in the window and sip shine.

    Rolling Coal.JPG

Coal, $50.00 a Ton = cheaper than a load of firewood for you.:D

That is a picture from last year we now have 8" of snow on the ground with 9" more coming. I have had to plow my driveway 4 times so far this year and never had to last three years since I retired from the WVDOH. So, yes Lloyd I feel your pain. As a 30+ year DOH employee starting as an Equipment Operator that drove a plow truck and then operated anything they had I heard alot. Was certified to operate; road graders, front end loaders, dozers, Gradall, track hoe, rubber tired back hoe, and had my crane license. From people driving past Road Closed signs and turning around and them saying "Just like that sign wasn't even there" to "Pick up a shovel and get to work" while cleaning ditches with a Gradall. My response was, "Stupid is stupid does".

Are you having it hauled? I haul my own straight from the mine. Any mines still operating near you?

every tree out there today will eventually fall down and possibly hurt someone, or worse, total a vintage car. trees are unsafe and need to be banned.

Recently we had high winds and a tree fell on the house we couldn't get out the back door, it also ripped the power line & meter off the house, no power for almost a week, I feel for you.

Hopefully some of the local guys can help you cut up and remove the tree. HRP

  24. Wow Lloyd that was way too close! I hear your pain. I’m always bragging about Virginia’s mild weather. Not this year! Been having ice and snow forever. Well maybe not forever. IMG_0492.JPG IMG_0525.JPG

Sorry to see that. One plus was no one was hurt. Had a huge branch that was hanging over my driveway and house about a year ago and kept putting off having someone take it down. It took a summer storm and watching it bounce up and down a little too much for me to call a local guy finally take it down.

I am tired of this cold weather. We have been getting nothing but snow and negative degree weather for two weeks in southeast Iowa. Worst part is I was trying to blade my driveway and my tractor just died out of nowhere right in the middle of the drive. With snow knee high or higher on both sides so I can't get around with any vehicles. Ended up getting it to fire up after 3 hours to get it to move just out of the way and die on me again. The pertronix ignition burnt up in the distributor. Damn it!

Old trees are over rated. Cut them down and plant new.
