Ice storms ****! Been lucky here for the most part since the m***ive 1998 ice storm. Face cord here is about CAN$90 (not delivered). Nothing better than sitting in front of a wood fire. Lol! Was -19C this morning and heading down to -22C (-8F) tonight and tomorrow night.

100 car pile up in Ft. Worth this morning, 5 fatalities so far, over 30 injured, and below freezing Temps for the next week in North Texas. Snow and who knows what else moving in on the tail of the weekend. Good time to get some welding done on my old car in the climate controlled shop! Ya'll stay safe!!

They are predicting ICE / freezing rain here tonight and tomorrow, unusual for this area. The snow doesn't hurt much but the ice takes down tree limbs which then takes down power lines. Then people fire up the generators which produces carbon monoxide calls along with idiots that connect their generators WRONG which backfeeds the power lines which is bad for the people trying to fix the power outages. That's why I hate to hear the words freezing rain in the weather report. Good luck with the tree removal projects, did that three years ago.

No sir! There's a little old lady up in a town called Wrigley, about an hour from me, that sells coal. She'll load ya with a backhoe or you can load it by hand. I'm not sure if it comes from here or your neck of the woods.

Lmao! Yeah there's no windshield. And luckily the big hole in the floor lets the water drain right out! Helluva design :D

Hope the end of this mess comes soon. Just saw video of the 100 car pile up in Texas. Black ice. Terrible deal.

I feel ya, Lloyd. As a valued city employee for 28 years of fixing busted plows, dump trucks, loaders, graders, cranes, pickups. cars, asphalt rollers and even lawn mowers, I know. We had a killer ice storm in '97 that put trees and tree limbs all over. My boss told me I was gonna have to work the weekend fabricating bracketry to install 4 brush grabbers on 4 of our back hoes and them plumb all the hydraulics. Worked 40 hours in 3 days so they'd be ready Monday morning......went to work Monday morning to a phone call from my boss saying we'd contracted all the tree removal to an out of state contractor!!!!!! I removed all the grabbers and put them at the back of the lot in the weather...5 years later they got s****ped.

  17. Ice storms ****. Broken trees can cause so much damage. I'm glad things worked out as well as they did for you.

We don't get a lot of ice storms here, it's mostly too cold for ice, snow instead. It was -37* overnight here and tonight and the next 3 nights are forecast to be -38, -39 & -39* C before we get a break. -39* C is like your 38* below zero, so pretty cold.

Good to hear no major damage done. I'm sure that limb was the last thing you needed on your to do list.

Hey Lloyd, whaddaya mean you can't spray transformers? In recruit cl*** they told me just to start with the nozzle on fog, close the pattern until you just feel the tingle and then open her back up a bit. You think maybe that's why my hair is so white now?

Hey @Lloyd's paint & gl*** , maybe a miracle will happen. Maybe all the people you have been out to, attending to their problems before your own, will show their appreciation and turn up to give you a hand..........................
    Well, you never know...:)

Hope all you guys (and your cars) come out of this winter storm mess OK. When we got our place in the woods I was a "tree hugger". Now I say "F*** 'em! This wasn't ice but strong winds March '19 20190309_154124.jpg

  24. We had a big ice storm around 10 years ago, went in the garage to get something and saw two huge branches hanging down low on my neighbors tree touching the roofs of his cars
Banged on his door for a bit n Jeff finally showed up in his pjs rubbing the sleep outta his eyes going “ huh wha ?”
Just pointed at his cars , he jumps out n moves them.
About 30 minutes later he’s at my door with a bottle of scotch point to to 4 huge branches across his driveway where his cars where !!
    Just lucky sometimes .

ice storms ****, we’ve been really lucky with the snow, last two weeks have been cold .

Yeah, I wouldn't hold out much hope either.
From what I have seen of you here on the HAMB, I will say that I am sure you will take this in your stride. Don't let it get you down man.
And I will say a big "thankyou" on behalf of all the selfish f#*kers out there who never think to say it themselves.

  30. I know you eastern guys think Calif. is all beaches and sunshine, but I live in the sierra foothills. We have a tiny cabin 30 miles up the road and I spent yesterday bucking up about a dozen pine and fir trees after 3 feet of snow fell in a day and took them out. tree.jpg I feel your pain.
