Whether you like the styling change or not, the execution here is first rate. Great job! How many guys would change the size of the vent windows to improve the proportions...
What a read !!! I was glued to my seat. A jaw dropping journey of subtle transformation with equally amazing understated results. Customisation the way it should be. Just love ❤️ it !!!
Hmmm. Now the hood ornament looks too big. I've been looking for a narrow bullnose for years (they were made in two widths), but the only one I've found got sold with a big batch of stuff.
Undoubtedly it could. Seems like a lot more work than installing a bolt-on one, though. There are three parts on the '40 that Don sculpted from aluminum with hand tools and then chrome plated: The hood ornament and the "eyebrows" above the grill halves. They were quite labor-intensive, though.
I retrieved the shoebox from Don last Thursday. Before driving home to Long Beach, we went up to Fresno to visit Mark Skipper. We were able to park the two chopped '51 Victorias together and shoot some pictures of the pair side-by-side. Fun!
Don had some good pictures from our visit to Mark Skipper's. I've asked him to post them here. I intend to come to the GNRS Drive-In.
Took 50Fraud to the GNRS Drive-in on Saturday. Reaction to the new details was quite favorable. View attachment 5643618
Congratulations @50Fraud on this milestone in having given a vision a step into reality in elegance...a stunner indeed... High praise also to Hamber @DRD57 in making that vision the reality we see here before us... I look forward to more images...the shots with Skipper's Victoria remind me of a Dave Bell artwork...
Thanks for the praise. I'm curious about the Dave Bell comment; why do those shots remind you of Dave's work?
If you are seriously considering a narrow bullnose, check out what my neighbor Craig did in making a stainless hood ornament for his Volvo on his YouTube channel; " throttle stop garage".
What I meant was many of your images at Royalshifters remind me of scenes he would have used as a catalyst for an artwork...all the elements are there...California, 2 wicked Customs, 2 people as he many times did the people with they're rides...and if time could be reversed a little and Dave was still with us and Street Rodder was still happening...I'm sure both would have been front and center for ink and art... I know he did cater to Hotrods and Customs as he did one with @lurker mick's Merc back in the day... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...toms-and-the-art.1163996/page-5#post-13332348 Truly a stunning duet really...
