    Thanks everyone.
I already have turn signals so I think I'd like the wires to run through the mount instead of the a separate connection. Am running a cloth wire sheath to the old lights.
Am going to take a good look at the 903's before I decide to run a dropped bar. That decision is partly based on cost.
I sure do agree with the usage of smaller lights on 50's traditional rods although I too love the look of larger headlights.

    Use the lights you want.
Personally, I prefer the large original types.
With the cloth type wiring, I used the end of a ribbed rubber claw tube ( see above ) off a milking machine
( cluster of cups ) to make a grommet to seal between the wiring and the light. - Perfect fit.

It's so hard to decide. I like both but am going with the 903-J, 34newlights.jpg B-L-C lights on mine

Any way to hide the orange gum drops that are inside?
Change to LED so that they are clear?

Dropped headlight bars are free. Just a little bit of gas and paint. And all hot rods should have them, no matter what headlights are perched on top.

The 33-34 Truck headlight bar was unique, if you use a dropped bar is it easier to use a dropped '32 and just bow the center forward to clear the grille bars? Bob

What it looks like you have, is the original style headlight connection. If you choose to use this style connection you will need whats called Headlight Wire Insulator Plugs, Headlight Wire Conduit to Bucket Connectors and Headlight Conduit. The problem is that with those original parts you can only use three wires. You might be able to snake your feed wires thru the original style Headlight Conduit, you show 5 wires, but it might be tight. With out the original parts your Headlight Conduits will be loose because the "bell" on the end of the conduit ****s up to the Bucket Connector and the ferrel at the end of the conduit anchors it to the headlight. Nice car, nicer wife. Someone might make an adapter from the original style headlight socket to conduit but I don't know of one.

As they say "a picture is worth a thousand words", so if you can get a Bob Drake catalog, it shows the your original style hook up. If you don't have a catalog, you can search his site for part nos, B-14584, B-13065 and 18-14578. and you can get a clearer picture. You might want to return your lights for some of the different headlights available. Good luck.

I found an a commercial light that routes the wires through the actual mount. So, I will be returning these.
I will be able to stick with my cloth wire sheath and not use conduit.
    Dont tell Mommy :)
    Question??
After some searching here I found no definitive answer.
Will an aftermarket dropped 32 bar fit onto a 34 pickup?? One post indicated the grille placement is slightly forward on the 34 and interferes with the lowered light bar. I also read that the 32 bar will fit onto the 32 trucks as per Drakes.
With the low cost of these stainless aftermarkets, I'm not even going to try bending the original painted one.

I have asked the same question myself. The suppliers that answered said "NO" the '34 grille is angled more than the '32 and the bar hits. Note on my avatar that I have a '32 car bar. It is high and hits the grille, so anything lower won't even bolt up. Also I had to shim the light mountings to get the lights aligned high enough to be useful.

    Thx HRM.
I am concerned that bending the bar forward to clear the radiator will shorten the overall length of the bolt location.
    I may rethink this.
I may just bend the original bar. Even just 2" lower will help with the look.

The Christmas lights you received were 32 lights, so they have the wires come out behind the mounting bolt. A 33-34 commercial light is different and should have the wires come through the bolt. I've never actually held a 32 bar up to a 33-34 bar, but I'd lay good money that they are a lot more different than a guy might suspect. But, maybe you can heat and bend that new pre-dropped repro stainless 32 bar? Or just heat and drop your old 33-34 bar and be done with it.

    I like these much better.
Picked the ones with the chrome marker lights.
Now I just may dropped the bar some.

Dropped bar with big headlamps for me. They have the right look and feel about them compared to the smaller diameter. I've a friend changing his littles over on his 34 roadster to biguns. Will change the look of the car completely like changing wheels and tyres.

Those look much better! In addition, you will actually be able to see at night. It will look great once you drop the bar.

    Ok you guys won. Partly.
I bent and installed a new drop bar.

The new 32 drop bar doesn't fit a 34 truck because of the radiator placement I bent it to just miss the grille.

Made a brkt to hold the hole to hole location of the fender mounting location by welding a couple of angle irons onto a stiff piece of channel. Drilled holes into the angle iron to mount the new drop bar and hold its position in place.
Heated the center area of the bar and bent it forward by a wooden pry bar.

    The dropped bar fit perfectly.
Follows the contour of the grille and mounting bolts slid right in.
    The stainless buffed right out.

I like these slightly smaller lights better especially with the top mounted turn signals.
The drop bar slid the light position down and I'm a happy petejoe.

I like the guide lights with the park/marker lights on top. I like seeing them on the real trucks like Diamond Ts and Autocars that used them originally, and I like 'em on hot rods, too.

I like the big lights. They are probably not gonna do the one thing you really need them to do very well, light the way. Dropped bar, is a must.
