Mick, curious here, the car itself is a photoshop creation or it is photoshopped in juxtaposition with the Valley Custom building? I found the image on a huge hot rod picture blog with no info.

  2. Both, I believe this is one of Rik Hovings beautiful photoshop creations he did for a HAMB art challenge a while back

If that hasn't been built, it needs to be, that is one pretty car...

Here's an update on my '40 Sedan. I was hoping to have it ready for the Hot Rod Dirt Drags last weekend and I wanted to drive it to Back to the 50's in St. Paul this coming weekend, but had some overheating issues related to the radiator, so it won't be dealt with until I get back. The car had been in Minnesota since I moved to Colorado in 2013, and I finally got it to Colorado at the end of April. It was not running, the radiator was too high and looked "off", it needed side windows, and there were a few other obstacles to overcome before it could be driven.
I added the front nerf bar this spring, which was styled after the Chuck DeHeras '40 coupe, lowered the radiator, and installed the new Eddie Meyer intake. It runs great, but the radiator needs to be flushed before the temp will stay at 180.
At any rate, it's great to have it in Colorado and it's made a lot of progress in the last few weeks. I hope to have it at the Hot Rod Hill Climb in Central City this fall.
The last photo is a picture of how I got it 15 years ago.

Thank you! I've done all the paint and bodywork myself (most when I was in high school and college) and upholstered it myself as well. It'll still do some flames on the front fenders and pinstriping on the decklid and firewall.
Thank you! Like every old Ford, it's a work in progress! I've had it since I was 14, 29 now... That's over half my life! It's heavily inspired by Gene Sonnen's '40 sedan and of course the Bob McCoy sedan. I got to meet Bob at the 2014 LA Roadster Show.

Yes. He did the car several years ago, and more recently put in the background.

  12. I always loved this photo. While I don't care for smooth painted running boards, ditching the vent windows, those knock offs, and 14" wheels up front, the car is cool, and the setting and lighting is fantastic. I remember the magazine photo of the big dent in the grill chin on this one, showing it's badge of honor. ;-)

While I agree with Don wholeheartedly, let's see if his post of Moreland's '40 Tudor stays, given the chastisement I have received for posting anything that looks like a pro-street 1940 Ford.

Darn it Lou, I went back and forth between black and maroon paint on my 40, chose black and NOW you show me the error of my choice. Beautifull.

I wonder which Maroon it is, since Ford had 3 choices in '40: Claret Maroon, Garnet Maroon, and Mandarin Maroon.

The color on my 40 is an attempt at the spring color Mandarin Maroon but with modern paint they always appear glossy but not as deep as original colors IMHO... RAQUEL ESCAPES 2016 008.JPG

Well, it's perfect! I'm with Joe, any maroon looks good on a '40

Some '40s in snapshots from a dusty shoebox. Love the first one, car club members all in matching white jackets. And note the trailer hitch on the '40, probably to pull the club dragster on a single axle trailer! Ah, the good old days of my youth.
